How to deal with Listening

Questions in final examinations

It is important to practise
listening to different electronic
texts in English. For example, you
can listen to English
programmes. Here are some
useful points to be considered
during the listening tests,
especially during final
examinations.

Before Listening:
1. Read the instruction of the task to know the topic of the
listening and make predictions.
2. . Read each question, with a pencil, underline and circle key
words , even you can predict the answer.
e.g. What happened to Ali?
The answer can be: died or moved to another place.
3. There are words which are important to focus on when
reading the questions such as; all / most / maximum / some/
always/ never / rarely / and 'not'.
e.g. How many soldiers did not survive in the war?
4. Try to expect what kind of answers you are going
to write like: a number, a name, or a place.

While listening:
1. Try to pick the key words and match them to
the questions (they usually come in order).
2. You can use short forms of words ( e.g. if the
answer is 'university', you can write 'univ' ,
later you can write the full word.
3. You can write the answer in Arabic letters (to
be faster and do not miss the other
questions), later you can write it in English.

While listening:
4. You can write long answers, then you
can select the exact answer.
5. If the answer is a number, you can write
it with letters when you are not sure of
how to write it with numbers correctly.
6. Some questions are repeated in exams,
like asking about the speaker’s opinion (
satisfied - worried - neutral - positive -
negative - etc..)

After Listening:
You must use a pencil to shade the bubbles of
correct answers. Do not shade more than one.
Regarding, wh-questions, write clear answers in
pen. Spelling is not important, but you should write
.the answers based on the correct pronunciations

 ‫خطوات بسيطة‪...‬‬
‫كيفية التعامل مع أسئلة االستماع في‬
‫االختبار النهائي‬

‫ينبغي عىل الطالبة التعود عىل االستماع للغة االنجليزية‬

‫بأي صورة من الصور المختلفة كالبرامج التلفزيونية‬
‫الوثائقية أو الترفيهية أو الكرتونية أو مقاطع يوتيوب‬
‫التعليمية أو حتى األناشيد االنجليزية خاصة تلك التي‬
‫تكون باللغة االنجليزية األم حتى تعتاد أذن الطالبة عىل‬
‫طريقة نطق الكلمات والتعابير الكالمية واألسلوب في‬
‫الحديث والحوار‪ .‬وفي ما يلي بعض النقاط التي البد من‬
‫االنتباه لها عند االستعداد الختبار االستماع‪:‬‬

‫قبل االستماع‪:‬‬
‫‪ .1‬اقرئي رأس السؤال جيدا حتى تتعرفي عىل الموضوع وتتهيئين‬
‫لالستماع اليه‪.‬‬
‫‪ .2‬اقرئي االسئلة جيدا مع استخدام قلم الرصاص لوضع خطوط‬
‫أو دوائر عىل الكلمات المهمة والتي قد تكون المفتاح للوصول‬
‫لإلجابة خاصة األسماء مثل أسماء االشخاص واألماكن‪.‬‬
‫‪ .3‬ركزي عىل المفردات التي قد تغير مجرى السؤال وتؤثر عىل معناه‬
‫بشكل كبير مثل "‪."always" "never" ""all "not‬‬

‫عند االستماع‪:‬‬
‫‪.1‬ابدأي بحل األسئلة من أول مرة تستمعين فيها لإلنصات‪.‬‬
‫‪ .2‬حاولي التركيز عىل الكلمات المفتاحية التي في األسئلة‬
‫والتي قد تكون مفتاح لحل السؤال مع مراعاة ترتيب‬
‫االسئلة مع ترتيب االستماع (في أغلب األحيان اجابة‬
‫‪.‬السؤال األول تكون في بداية االستماع وهكذا‪.‬‬
‫‪ .3‬ستطيعين أن تختصرين الكلمات بدال من كتابتها كاملة‬
‫(حتى ال يفوتك باقي االنصات) عند اجابة أسئلة ‪.wh-qs‬‬

‫عند االستماع‪:‬‬
‫‪ .4‬تستطيعين كتابة االجابة بالحروف العربية حتى‬
‫تكوني أسرع في التقاط االجابات وبعد االنتهاء من‬
‫االستماع يمكنك كتابتها باللغة االنجليزية‪.‬‬
‫‪ .5‬يمكنك كتابة اجابة االرقام بالحروف اذا لم تكوني‬
‫متأكدة من كتابتها باالرقام بطريقة صحيحة‪.‬‬

‫بعد االستماع‪:‬‬
‫‪.‬حبري اجاباتك وحدديها بشكل واضح‬

‫مالحظة‪:‬‬
‫تدربي عىل كيفية كتابة األرقام بشكل صحيح وكيفية‬
‫‪ ((year/2011‬نطقها‪ .‬مثل (‪)31 / 13‬‬
‫‪hundred 100, thousand 1000) .‬‬

‫كلما تدربت عىل اسئلة االختبارات السابقة‪ ,‬زادت‬
