METHOD STATEMENT FOR SCISSORS LIFT OPERATION

Purpose

- To eliminate hazards during the process of scissor lift operation.

Scope

- This safe work procedure is applicable to all scissor lift operation.

Responsibility

- WSH Supervisor / Supervisor in-charge


(To apply permit-to-work at height and ensure activities are carried out in accordance to this
procedure)

Procedure for Scissor Lift Operation

1. No person other than the authorized operator(s) is allowed to operate the scissor lift.

2. Daily pre-use check by the operator, stop operation if there is any malfunction or
damage of scissor lift and report to supervisor immediately.

3. No person other than the authorized mechanics or vendor is allowed to repair or


maintain the scissor lift.

4. Scissor Lift must not be operated unless certified 'Serviceable' by the authorized
Mechanic or Vendor.

5. Do not operate any scissor lift in an unsafe manner.

6. Prior operation, observe nobody is nearby the scissor lift dangerous zone or position.

7. Alert the people nearby the danger zone by alarm, horn or siren.

8. Make awareness to all workers not to lean against or stay behind the scissor lift
dangerous position.

9. Do not operate the scissor lift for purposes other than its intended use.

10. Do not exceed the safe working load and speed of the scissor lift.

11. Ensure of safety harness is used and hooked on a rigid point during operation of
scissors lift.

12. Shut down the scissor lift when not in use and park it in designated place and set the
brake on.
