CONCEPTS
Simplifying rational algebraic expressions is eliminating factors that are common
in numerator and denominator.
In this Learning Activity Sheet, you will use the skill of finding the GCF.

ILLUSTRATION Below are the different illustrations in simplifying rational algebraic expressions:

Example 1
If you are given examples that are monomials, list down the factors
then cancel the common factors in both numerator and denominator.

Example 2
There are examples that involve difference of
two squares. In this case, you need to factor
them then cancel the common factor.
Example 3
If there are examples that involve trinomials, as
long as they are factorable, you can factor them
first then cancel the common factor between the
numerator and denominator.

EXERCISES
Now try to simplify the following rational algebraic expressions. Write your solutions
then box your final answer.
