Effects of Computers in our Everyday Life

In Education

In many private and public schools, computers are used to facilitate instructions by integrating the
computer in the classroom. They become a powerful extension of the teacher. By using the
computer, teachers can provide exercises for varied subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English,
and Economics. Students in lower levels develop logical thinking and are able to follow instructions
better by using Computer-aided Instructions or CAI. It is a program where the learner interacts with
the computer as a teaching tool. Computers help the students to learn and study at their own pace.
Some students find the convenience of utilizing the computer in their subject reports. Beyond doubt,
integrating the computer in the classroom bring out more creative, more productive, and smarter
kids. In addition, computers are used in enrolment and the grading system. But of course, what have
been said are but a few examples of the uses of computers today.

In Business

In businesses, computers are used to calculate bills, creative documents. Billing invoices from such
offices as MERALCO, PLDT, Globe Telecom, and those of large businesses and stores are made by
computers. Banking institutions have installed Automated Teller Machines or what is commonly
known as ATM’s. people with bank accounts can withdraw money from almost anywhere where
there is an ATM and where the service is available. People with credit card has no need to carry cash
to make purchases. The card is swiped in a computer register and the transaction is reported to the
computer in the bank where the cardholder has an account. The data form the microchip embedded
in the card provides all the necessary information about the client and the transaction. This means
that the use of the computer provides convenience and speed. Moreover, it cuts down paper
handling and other related costs.
