We say “Smart House”, but we mean housing with all

modern amenities and household appliances. High-tech

gadgets can also be added to this definition. Only a couple
of centuries ago, people could not even imagine what the
houses would be like today. They did not have electricity,
heating, fire alarm, air conditioning, heaters, etc. All they
had was candles, sometimes kerosene lamps and firewood
to keep the fire and heat in the house.

Powering the future house

In the same way that the internet connects computer terminals

within a network-based, communications infrastructure powering
our homes in the future will work on the same principle. Every
individual house and building will become a power plant with
renewable energy sources connected, like today’s power grid.
Rather than simply consume electricity this network will allow
houses to sell back and buy electricity from the grid.

In the bedroom of the future...

We can make the bed with a touch of a switch. The lights turn on
with a clap and turns off with two claps.
We can also turn on the TV set with three claps and change the
channels with our command voice.
The computer is a screen in the hall, who appears with our
command voice and follow our instructions.
In the floor there is a cleaning system who turns on when the room
is empty and dirty

In the Living-room of the future...

The couch has a massage and warming system, when the command
voice turns that on.
The lights have an automatic dimmer
The window shutters open and close according the daylight,
automatically.
The wall changes color when we touch on it, and we can choose a
lot of different colors for that.
In the floor are a cleaning system who turns on when the room is
empty and dirty.

Kitchen

There was a time when past futurologists believed we would be

satisfying our daily nutritional needs with pills in the future. How
wrong they were. The kitchen not only continues to be one of the
most important spaces of the contemporary home but will take on
even more prominence with developments in our diet and food
consumption habits. The trend towards designer kitchens will
become more marked buoyed by ever more sophisticated
electro-domestic appliances which will make dining at home
more and more like the experience of professional kitchens.

The future bathroom

Our wellbeing will be centre stage in the future bathroom. This
means having a much more interactive environment. Built-in
sensors for bathroom cabinet mirrors and WC waste will monitor
our health. Pampering equipment that today we have to go to a
professional Spa to enjoy will be standard fare. The bathroom of
tomorrow will be even more of a room than it is today, so the area
dedicated to the bathroom is going to increase in size.
