METHOD STATEMENT FOR ‘EMERGENCY LIGHT / KELUAR SIGN’ INSTALLTION

1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this method is to describe the measures and ways of proper
installation of ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ installation in this project. Works shall be carried
out in compliance with the drawings, project specifications, and materials.

2.0 MATERIALS/EQUIPMENTS

The related materials as below:

a) Approved light ‘EL/Keluar Sign’

3.0 EQUIPMENT & RESOURCES

3.1 MACHINERY / TOOL

The basic equipment to be used is as follows:

a) Portable hand tools


b) Portable drilling machines
c) Scaffolding
d) Digital multimeter

3.2 MANPOWER

Manpower involved:

a) Project Engineer
b) Site Supervisor
c) Machine Operator
d) General Workers

4.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

Before the start of installation works exact locations of ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ will be
checked and it should be as per approved drawing.

Installation shall be carried out by a skilled and suitably experienced electrician under
supervision of highly competent site supervisors and engineers to ensure the
correctness and best quality of installation.

‘EL/Keluar Sign’ will be installed strictly in accordance with manufacturers


recommendations and instructions and the type of fittings will be as approved
material approval/shop drawings.

Adequate and sturdy support will be provided for each light fitting. Containment
related works shall be completed, and all circuits will be pulled as per approved shop
drawing layout.

5.0 METHOD OF INSTALLATION

5.1 When ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ are installed, the appropriate number of conduit boxes
will be installed. Final circuit connection at discharge ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ will be
left long enough to terminate at the connections within the ‘EL/Keluar Sign’
such that cables do not pass over starting/control equipment.

5.2 Wherever ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ are mounted in gypsum ceiling, plug-in ceiling rose
shall be located nearest to the cut-out location of lighting fixture to ensure
easy access during maintenance or a loop-in and loop out wiring will be done
using flexible conduit.

5.3 Recessed ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ will be provided with trims which fit neatly and
tightly to the surfaces in which they are installed without gaps.

5.4 Suspended type ‘EL/Keluar Sign’ will be installed by means of conduit drops
that will be fitted to ball joints allowing a swing of at least 20 degrees all
around.

5.5 Label will be provided for proper identity of each ‘EL/Keluar Sign’.

5.6 After the completion of installation, inspection request will be raised to the
approving party to ensure accuracy and high quality of works.

5.7 After the approval of wire pulling and installation, testing will be carried out.

5.8 All testing procedures and test results (insulation resistance, continuity, live
test\/functional test) will be carried out according to approved testing
methodology and as per applicable regulation and confirm the value are as
per recommendations.

6.0 SAFETY, HEALTH, SECURITY AND ENVIRONMENT

Strictly follow as per the manufacturer’s Health and Safety recommendations for
handling and use of the materials. Ensure all involved personnel shall are aware of
the same.

A special safety inspector has been assigned; all personnel involved in


this work shall use the mandatory P.P.E as follows.
a. Safety Helmet
b. Safety Shoes/Boots
c. Safety glasses.
d. All other PPE as required by the risk assessment.

All work will be undertaken by qualified competent people with experience of the
type of work described above, and in all cases in full accordance with safety
procedures specified in the company's health and safety Policy.
