Summary

Jealousy takes over Taehyung when the newly hired bodyguard gets a little too close with
his boyfriend, Jeongguk.

Notes

See the end of the work for notes

Taehyung wouldn’t say he’s possessive. Let’s just say, he’s a little overprotective over his little
bun. But, could you really blame him? With his dangerous job that deals with so many criminals,
accidents and mistakes were bound to happen, so he was extra careful with Jeongguk. He’d beat
himself up for the whole night if his baby ever got injured.
The boy doesn’t know how to use a gun, not liking the high pitched sound that rings through his
sensitive ears incessantly when he fires one. Taehyung had taken him to a shooting course once,
and he knows never to bring him there ever again.

Jeongguk had pouted and crossed his arms the entire journey back home, his pink and irritated ears
prominent in the sleek car. “Hurts, hyungie.” He pushes out his bottom lip further and huffs louder.
Taehyung didn’t really have to ask for forgiveness, though. Just a kiss on each ear would be fine
for the younger.

It started off well at first, hiring a new bodyguard for Jeongguk because the previous one had made
a mistake that might’ve costed his life. Accidentally firing a gun in the house? That’s a no from
Taehyung.

“Why’d you have to fire Sangchul?” He whines, huffing when his familiar friend didn’t turn up for
his daily work activities. “He took me to parks with a bunch of bunnies, where do I go now?”

“I can take you, can’t I?” Taehyung raises a brow, looking up from his laptop. “No, you’re never
home.” Jeongguk deadpans. The older’s heart pangs a little at that, and he winces. “And only
Sangchul hyung knows the best spots.” Taehyung closes his computer, reaching for his face.

“I’ve hired you a new one, Koo.” Taehyung caresses his cheek. “I just want the best for you,
okay?” Jeongguk just sighs dramatically. “But Sangchul was already the best.”

“He better not be boring,” He leans into his hand, shutting his eyes at the warmth. “Like Junseo.”
Taehyung watches him talk about his past bodyguards animatedly with amusement. “He did
paperwork all day, and he never, ever talked to me.”

“I’d like to think he was the best one.” His boyfriend looks at him with a disgusted expression.
“Please, I miss Chul hyung already.”

“He’s arriving soon, so be on your best behaviour and don’t give him a hard time, hm?” Jeongguk
scoffs, plopping himself onto his lap, burying his face into his neck as he snakes his arms around
his waist. “Can I at least keep in touch with Sangchul?”

“Koo—“ A knock on the door interrupts him.

“That must be him.” Taehyung hums, but doesn’t make any movement to get him off of his lap. He
keeps him close, rubbing circles onto his back. “Come in.”

Jeongguk peeks from his neck a little, his pout growing when it really wasn’t Sangchul anymore. It
was a tall, buff and bulky guy, dressed in a suit that fit him nicely.

“Good morning, sir.” A deep voice reverberates throughout his office, and he buries his face
further. “I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.”

“Oh, no. You didn’t, Daesung. It’s alright.” Taehyung waves him off, tapping on Jeongguk’s lower
back, lips pressed onto the crown of his head.

“Ggukie, say hi, honey.” The boy just sniffs, shaking his head against his shoulder. “I’m sorry, he’s
a little worked up right now.” Jeongguk hears Taehyung apologise above him, tightening his arms
around him.

“That’s okay.” Daesung looks at the two squeezed together on the chair, bowing a little.

“I want Sangchul hyung back.” Jeongguk sniffles and tightens his grip around Taehyung. He
sighs.

Jeongguk wasn’t just close with Sangchul, he was extremely close with him, they were like
brothers. He didn’t have many friends, usually being stuck at home with nothing better to do, so
Sangchul would take him out while doing his job at the same time. Taehyung felt bad for taking
away his best friend, but mistakes weren’t tolerated in this industry, let alone in his own home.

“I’m sorry, darling.” Taehyung murmurs, pressing gentle kisses on his temple. “You can have a
new friend, hm? I’m sure Daesung would love to bring you out as well.” Jeongguk however, still
doesn’t move, sniffing as he tries not to burst into tears there and then.

Daesung clears his throat, fixing his tie. “Jeongguk-ssi, do you like rabbits?” Taehyung almost
rolls his eyes at how the boy on his lap perks up a little at the mention of the small animal.

“I saw a family of them in the garden when I came in.” Jeongguk gasps and lifts his head from his
neck, while Taehyung wipes the tears that had rolled down his cheeks, noticing the dark spot that
had appeared on his shirt. “Really? Can I go, please, please , hyung?”
“Of course, you don’t have to ask.” Taehyung ruffles his hair, kissing the corner of his lips before
letting him off of his lap. There’s some paperwork and contracts left unsigned for Daesung, but
that’s not the priority right now. “Just be careful, yeah? Take care of him, Daesung. Or you’ll
know what’ll happen.”

“It’s my job, sir.” Taehyung couldn’t quite put it, he’s not sure if he has a good or bad impression
on him. No one has ever quite stopped Jeongguk from crying just like that, not even his own
boyfriend, having to coax him with kisses and hugs. How could he not have thought about bunnies,
of course. He’s sure that Jeongguk likes the animal more than him.

He watches them leave, Jeongguk running at full speed to the back door, Daesung chasing him
from behind, telling him to ‘slow down, sir!’ Taehyung chuckles and shakes his head. opening his
laptop again.

He’s going to have a hard time, he knows it. Jeongguk’s restless and energetic, Daesung will need a
ton of stamina and strength to continue on. He wouldn’t be surprised if he passes him a resignation
letter within the week, even if the pay was exceptionally high. He’ll see.

________________

“So, this one’s Areum, because she has pretty fur.” Daesung nods along, crouching down beside
Jeongguk as he sits on the grass, introducing the rabbits to his new friend. “And this one’s called
Boongi, because he always sleeps, like Yoon hyung!”

“I see, Jeongguk-ssi.” Daesung hums, reaching out to pet some of them gently. Jeongguk cringes at
the formality, he hates that. “You can call me Ggukie. Or Jeonggukie, or.. Jeongguk. But not Koo,
that’s reserved for Taetae only.”

The older looks slightly taken aback by the sudden confession, but he nods anyways. One of the
reasons why all of Jeongguk’s bodyguards loved him so much was his sweet personality, making
all of them whipped for him, spoiling him rotten, even going to lengths of using their own money
to buy him ice cream from the truck that had just stopped nearby.
“Alright, Jeongguk. They’re very cute, you must’ve taken good care of them.” Jeongguk beams at
that, bunny teeth peeking out. “Of course, hyung! I feed them carrots whenever they come by, even
when Taetae tells me not to.” He slaps his hand over his mouth, eyes wide. “Um, don’t tell him
that!”

The bodyguard can’t help but let out a chuckle, nodding. “I won’t.” Jeongguk’s not satisfied.
“Promise?” He holds up his pinky, stretching it out to the older. Daesung smiles at his antics,
linking their pinkies together, connecting their thumbs. “Alright, so this one’s named Honey,
because..”

Taehyung watches them from the inside, putting his work aside, leaving it incomplete in his office.
His head tilts in slight confusion. Jeongguk has never warmed up to people so fast, let alone
introduce his second family of bunnies to a complete stranger. He grips onto his mug a little too
tightly, and he stops himself before his knuckles turn white.

He continues to watch, face unconsciously turning grim. He’s always been protective over his boy,
but it’s not overly done, of course. Taehyung respects him and believes that he can do whatever he
likes. He looks at Jeongguk picking some flowers from the garden and sitting down on the grass to
make a flower crown. Daesung simply stands at the side, before the younger invites him to sit, like
the polite boy he is.

There’s a respectful distance between the two of them, and he thinks, that was stupid . His thoughts
were dumb. Jeongguk got a new friend, after being distraught from the loss of Sangchul. This will
be good for him, since Taehyung’s not around often and Daesung seems like a good guy. He never
fails with picking his employees, always doing a background search on them before letting them
come over. He tries to convince himself this, and pushes the negative thoughts aside. Seeing
Jeongguk happy would be good enough for him.

But Daesung’s name had just kept coming up during their conversations, and Taehyung had to
listen to all of them. Don’t get him wrong, he loves talking to Jeongguk, loves hearing his voice
and laughter like it’s music to his ears. He controls himself from letting out a big sigh whenever he
hears the familiar name.

“Daesung hyung took me out to the river today!” Jeongguk says as he sits on his lap, swinging his
legs back and forth in happiness. “We saw a bunch of fishes, and— and these ducks, I fed them
bread!” He stutters when he gets excited, a habit Taehyung has noticed over the three years.

Taehyung smiles a little and hums in acknowledgment, playing with the loose strands of his hair.
“And we went to eat donuts, and then the mall..” He goes on, and it’s like the two of them never
stopped going out with each other. It bothered him a little, but he was glad that Jeongguk was
having fun. Or so he thinks.

Oh, but it goes on. Day by day, Jeongguk would tell him all about his fun-filled day with his
bodyguard. “We went shopping, wanna see?” He replies when Taehyung asks him where he went,
having returned home at eight in the evening.

The older holds back a groan, giving him a tight-lipped grin before tapping on his lap, allowing
Jeongguk to jump into his arms and show him what he had bought earlier. It was usually the same
things, oversized shirts, shoes, snacks or those plushies he had won in those claw machines.

Taehyung holds him a bit tighter these days too, especially around Daesung, pulling him closer by
the waist or pressing kisses on his cheek and his little button nose, or leaving small hickeys that
showed themselves off on Jeongguk’s neck, which had the household gagging at them and looking
away. He’s not sure if Jeongguk has noticed the small change, but he’s pretty sure he loves the
extra attention.

“Tickles, hyungie.” Jeongguk would giggle in Taehyung’s arms when he leaves gentle kisses on
his entire face and neck, right in front of Daesung, as if to spite him. “Missed you.” Taehyung
mumbles, giving another kiss on the lips.

“You saw me three hours ago.” He pokes the mole under his nose, and Taehyung scoffs,
scrunching it up. “Do I need a reason to miss my baby?”

“Nope.” Jeongguk would answer, popping the ‘p.’ “You’re so dramatic.” And they would squabble
with each other, stealing a few pecks and kisses here and there, while Daesung stands at the side,
waiting for any instructions.

________________

Taehyung’s also a lot harsher on him, compared to the rest of the employees, getting him to
perform many tasks and reprimanding him when he couldn’t finish them on time. He wouldn’t do
that in front of Jeongguk though, he won’t put himself on the spot like that. He would defend
Daesung and stand in front of him with a menacing look on his face, scolding Taehyung along the
lines of “Don’t be mean to hyung, Taetae!”

“Get me a cup of iced coffee, black.” Taehyung would mutter, chasing him off to the café nearby
to get his order. “And a chocolate cupcake for Jeongguk. Be quick, I have a meeting in ten
minutes.”

“I said black, Daesung.” He growls, easily irritated with his busy morning schedule and the arrival
of his incorrect order fuels him even more. He grips at the paper bag in annoyance, but is careful
not to crush the cupcake in it, because it’s Jeongguk’s favourite.

“Get me another.” He'd be lying if he said he didn’t try to muffle a snicker when he sees Daesung
suppress another sigh with a quiet, “Yes, sir,” as he briskly walks back to the café, beads of sweat
dripping down his forehead under the sweltering heat of the sun. Call him sadistic, because that’s
what he is.

________________

“Let’s go for dinner tonight, bun. There’s this new place nearby, Namjoon said it was good.”
Taehyung wraps his arms around Jeongguk’s waist from the back, pecking his exposed shoulder.
He had finished his work early for once, completing every one of his tasks and paperwork, closing
his laptop a few hours earlier than usual. What would be better than to use his free time with the
love of his life?

“You don’t have work?” Jeongguk asks, turning back to look at him. “I finished early, so I get to
spend time with you.” Taehyung coos and pinches his cheek, eyes sparkling with excitement.

“I have plans today, hyungie.”

Taehyung blinks, enthusiasm wearing off. He tries not to let his smile drop. “Where are you going,
hm?” Jeongguk’s all dolled up with some glittery eyeshadow below his eyes, lashes fluttering.
“Looking as pretty as ever.”

Jeongguk flushes under his touch, hands cupping his supple cheeks. He gives him a small smile,
puckering his lips for a kiss — in which Taehyung complies quickly.

“To a cat cafe, with Daesung!” Oh . Taehyung bites the inside of his cheek, taking a breath.
“We can eat next week.” Jeongguk says before pecking his cheek, leaving the print of his lip gloss.
“I guess so.” Taehyung mumbles and leans down to give him another kiss, watching him leave.
“I’ll see you tonight then, I love you.”

“Love you too!” Jeongguk blows him a kiss, leaving rather quickly just before Taehyung can sneak
a peek of the man in the black suit waiting outside for him. So much for finishing his work early.
He supposes this is punishment for not spending more time with him, always being cooped up in
his work.

Taehyung slumps on the couch, turning on the television to some random channel. He picks up his
phone, bringing it up to his ear. “Hello?” He mumbles, taking a swig of a beer that was
conveniently placed in front of him. “Please cancel the reservation made by Kim for today, at
eight. Thank you.” He doesn’t bother listening to the response, hanging up and throwing his phone
aside. He wonders if this was how Jeongguk felt when he didn’t come back home, overworking
himself at the workplace.

And it continues. Whenever he comes home, Jeongguk’s there with him, giggling or playing in the
garden until the skies turn dark, while Daesung adheres to whatever he says. “Can you get those
flowers for me, hyung?” He asks sweetly, pointing up at the vine that was too high for him to
reach.

“Here you go.” Daesung places the flower on his palm carefully, hands professionally going back
to his side as Jeongguk thanks him with a wide smile on his face. Taehyung kicks off his shoes and
throws his bag onto the ground, until it’s become a habit to just watch them like it’s some rom-com
movie.

“It’s really obvious, you know.” Jimin snickers, looking at his gloomy expression, eyes staring
straight at the blank ceiling. “What is?” Taehyung mutters, obviously uninterested as he chugs
down his glass of wine like it was water.

“Your jealousy.”

Taehyung splutters, head snapping towards him to give him an incredulous look. “ Jealousy ? You
must be fucking joking. Jealous, me, Kim Taehyung? Never in my life.”

He grumbles. stealing another glance at the pair outside. His expression falters, seeing him having
the time of his life, a smile so big, one that he hasn’t seen in a while. He usually sees Jeongguk’s
frowns and tired, forced smiles, having to wait for him to return home, alone in the living room.

“If he’s happy, I’m happy.” He mumbles and looks away, letting out a soft sigh.

“You’ve been so down recently, it isn’t like you.” He can feel Jimin’s eyes on him, voice laced
with worry and care. “You should talk to him if this is bothering you. Don’t keep it to yourself,
communicate with him.”

“It does seem like he’s been spending much more time with Daesung rather than you.” Jimin
points out, looking back at the two of them in the garden. The sun’s already setting, painting the
sky orange and yellow.

“It’s not bothering me.” Taehyung tries to convince himself. “I’m glad he’s having fun. I’m not
home often, Daesung’s good for him.”

“You sound like a dejected bitch right now.” Jimin clicks his tongue, stealing a sip of his wine.

“You always have some shit to say about me, Jimin.” He raises his hands in surrender, leaning
back on the couch.

“Just trying to help, boss.”

“Don’t call me that.” Taehyung says, exasperated. “We’ve been friends since high school .”

“Talk to him, I’m sure he’ll understand.” Jimin ruffles his hair and messes it up, making him whine
and complain.

Taehyung shakes his head again, because this is stupid. Things are fine between them. He
shouldn’t be having these foolish thoughts that invade his head every hour, because he trusts
Jeongguk.

“I’ll be fine.” The sound of the sliding door opening pulls him away from their conversation, and
Taehyung holds an index finger to his lips, telling Jimin to shut up.
“Hi, baby.” His entire demeanour changes — eyes crinkling into crescents, lips turning up into an
adoring smile when Jeongguk jumps onto his lap, arms wrapping around him tightly. He’s a little
sweaty and sticky, but Taehyung doesn’t mind at all.

Jeongguk laughs softly as the older pecks his lips gently. “Did you have fun?” Taehyung looks at
him with endearment and tucks a strand of hair behind his ear, wiping the drops of sweat on his
forehead with a napkin.

He nods, nuzzling his nose into Taehyung’s neck to inhale the familiar scent of his cologne. “Lots
of fun,” He mumbles, leaning into his touch when he tugs him closer to his chest. “We made
smores, you should try it sometime.”

“‘S really good, Taetae.” Jeongguk yawns, smacking his lips against the collar of his shirt. And oh,
Taehyung’s so whipped for him.

“Of course, darling.” He hums, patting his back. The pats almost lull him to sleep, but he awakens
once he hears talking.

“You can go, Daesung. Thanks for watching him.” Taehyung says, quieter than usual. Daesung
bows, starting to take his leave. He almost sighs in relief. He has nothing to worry about, they
don’t need to talk about anything, because—

“Hold on.” Jeongguk raises his head from his neck, lips pursued in a pout. He looks down at the
boy with droopy eyes as he stands up.

“‘M gonna give hyung some cookies.” Jimin snorts from across the couch, and Taehyung shoots
him a warning glance before he watches his boyfriend stuff the cookies that he had baked this
afternoon into a container, passing it to Daesung. “Bye-bye, Sungie.”

Jimin’s laughter is muffled through his hand, while Taehyung resists the urge to roll his eyes.
Sungie. Sungie?

“Goodbye, Jeonggukie. See you tomorrow.” Jeonggukie? Jeongguk smiles tiredly, waving at him
until the door closes.
“Why’d you give him so many?” Taehyung scoffs, dusting the crumbs off of Jeongguk’s hands.
“Now we don’t have any to eat.”

“Ignore him, Ggukie.” Jimin huffs out another laugh when he sees Jeongguk squint at his
boyfriend in confusion. “Your Taetae’s being a little bitch today.”

“ You’re the little bitch here, Jimin.” Taehyung flips him off, and Jeongguk grabs his finger,
pulling it down with furrowed brows. “We still have a bunch of them in the oven, Tae. Don’t be
mad.”

“I’m not mad.” He grumbles, tugging him back onto his lap.

“Your face says otherwise.” Jeongguk’s right. Taehyung’s face is flushed red, jaw clenched, eyes
turned into slits, staring into space. Jeongguk looks at him with doe eyes, and he can’t bear to stay
annoyed. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“There’s obviously something wrong.” He frowns, pulling at his shirt. “You’ve been weird these
days.”

Embarrassed, Taehyung rubs at his face, hiding the redness. Jeongguk grabs his hands and cups his
cheeks, squishing them gently. He groans, but goes along with it, sitting on the couch with the boy
on his lap, squeezing his face.

“You can talk to me, you know.” There’s a pause. Footsteps could be heard, signalling that Jimin
had left the room, probably to give them some space.

“I’m here for you, just like how you’re here for me.” Jeongguk says firmly, pressing his forehead
against his boyfriend’s, nose brushing onto one another.

“It’s just.. stupid.”

Jeongguk frowns, almost dramatically. “It’s not stupid if you’re feeling, I don’t know, sad?” He
leans back into his chest, hugging him tightly. “I really can’t tell. You’re emotionless, hyungie..”

He chuckles, and Jeongguk feels the rumble in his chest, snuggling closer to him. The older smiles,
pecking his nose before properly leaning in for a longer kiss. “I’m sorry, baby.” Taehyung
whispers, running his fingers through his hair — the action that Jeongguk loves oh so much, and
will quite literally melt under his touch.

He shakes his head, “Don’t apologise.” Jeongguk plays with his earrings gently, a wet kiss pressed
onto the dip of his jaw. “It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it.” He looks up, seeing the
exhaustion in his eyes and the dark colour under them. “We can talk tomorrow. Let’s watch TV
now.”

Taehyung thanks him silently by squeezing his hand, reaching for the remote with his other to turn
on the television.

“Watch this, Taetae.” Jeongguk kicks his legs happily on his lap, staring at the television intently.
“‘S a documentary about bunnies, Daesung introduced me to it.” The older tenses up at the name
once again, letting out a small sigh, the grip on his hand loosening.

Jeongguk turns around with a pouty frown on his face. “You’re doing that again.”

Taehyung looks at him, eyes half open. “What am I doing?”

“You act up whenever I mention Sungie.” He mumbles, picking at his collar. The older tries his
hardest not to curl into a ball and scream into a pillow upon hearing the nickname again.

There’s a few moments of silence, until Jeongguk gasps, hands pressed onto his boyfriend’s chest.
“You’re jealous.”

Taehyung presses his lips into a straight line and shakes his head, looking anywhere but into
Jeongguk’s eyes. “You’re crazy, Ggukie. I’m never jealous.”

“You are.” He sing songs, poking his cheeks as he smiles and giggles, making Taehyung grumble,
face heating up. “Oh, look at your pink cheeks.”
Jeongguk continues to tease him, sitting on his lap while he kicks his legs a little in delight, and
Taehyung has to hold on to them to calm him down. “I’m not, baby.” He murmurs, twirling the
younger’s hair between his fingers.

“You’re not being subtle about it.” Jeongguk has his arms tight around his waist, legs pressed
against his thighs. Rolling his eyes, Taehyung groans again, hiding his face in his hair.

“There’s no need to be jealous, silly.” He nosed at his ear affectionately, placing small kisses
beneath his jaw. Looking up at the older, Jeongguk smooths the crease between his eyebrows and
drops a soft kiss on Taehyung’s nose.

“You’re the only one for me.” Jeongguk says and tightens his arms around his neck, sighing in
contentment. Taehyung relishes in the physical contact, slipping his hands under Jeongguk’s shirt
to run his hands over his back in an innocent caress while he squirms under the sudden coldness,
whining.

“I missed you,” Taehyung hums, hand halting its movement on his warm skin. Jeongguk rubs his
cheek against his shoulder, letting out a confused sound. “I’m deprived of my baby.”

“I’ve been home most of the time, hyungie.”

Taehyung puffs his cheeks and looks into the distance. His pride is long gone. “You’ve been so
busy with Daesung. ” He says his name with disgust and pure jealousy, as if the slightest mention
of the man would make him repel and nauseate. “I've missed this.”

Jeongguk laughs softly, squeezing him tighter as if that was even possible. The two had their limbs
entangled, the pillows on the couch messed up as they now lay together — you wouldn’t be able to
tell whose body part was whose.

“Now you know how I feel when you’re all busy at work.” He teases and pokes his side, giggling.

“And I’m sorry for that, bun.” Taehyung mumbles guiltily, remembering the miserable look on his
baby’s face when he had reached home late for the fifth time that week. And he remembers how
lonely he felt when Jeongguk ditched him for.. him. He couldn’t even say his name anymore.

“S’Okay.” Like the perfect boy he is, Jeongguk forgives and forgets easily, being content with a
peck to his lips and extra cuddles for the night.

“I love you,” Taehyung tucks a strand of hair behind his ear, staring at him like he’s the love of his
life (he is). “So, so much.” He’s whipped for him, you already know. He’d take a bullet for him—
hell, he’d give the last piece of rice cake to him. Everybody knows how much Taehyung loves rice
cakes.

Jeongguk tenses, lifting up his head from his chest to look at him. The older cups his cheek and
frowns, “Have I not said that to you recently?”

He gets teary-eyed, eyes filling up with moisture that are threatening to spill over. Oh, his
emotional baby. Taehyung chuckles and caresses his cheek, wiping his eyes before any tear could
trickle down.

“Love you more.” Jeongguk sniffles, burying his nose into Taehyung’s neck where snot drips onto
his sweater, leaving a damp spot, but he’s too endeared to care about that.

“Love you most.” The cheesy words that every sappy couple would utter at least once in their
lifetime. Taehyung’s proud to say that he’s won most of the ‘I love you more’ games.

“I love you mostest.”

“That’s not a word, baby.”

“It is when I say it is!”
