CONSTRUCTION
a) Spiral Wound Gaskets comprise a wrapped metallic strip with a compressible
filler material

a) Kammprofile Gaskets have a solid metal core with concentric serrations faced
with a compressible filler material.

a) Kammprofile Gaskets compress less, load more quickly, and are more effective
in preventing fugitive emissions compared to Spiral Wound Gaskets.

b) Metal jacketed gasket are made using a thin metallic outer shell that contains a
resilient filler material. The metal casing protects the filler and is resistant to
pressure, temperature and corrosion.

CONTSRUCTION – KAMMPROFILE

• Kammprofile gaskets (also called as Kamprofile gasket or Camprofile

gasket or Grooved gasket) are gaskets that come with a metal core
bonded with a soft filler material on both sides.

• Metal core are carbon steel, 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel (if you
need to go to higher temperatures), and other high-temperature
materials such as Hastelloy and Inconel.

• The facing material (filler material) is often typically a soft facing material
such as graphite facing (flexible graphite is what manufacturers call it).
Other non-asbestos fillers include mica (high-temperature applications),
PTFE, and other sealing materials.

CONTSRUCTION – METAL JACKETED GASKET

• Metal jacketed gaskets generally consist of a metal cover with a soft

material insert. Metal Jacketed Gaskets have of a metallic outer shell
with softer compressible filler materials. They have a soft filler inside a
metallic jacket.

• Metal-jacketed gaskets are made in many styles to suit the most

demanding applications. In dependence on the metal cover metal
jacketed gaskets are applicable in the area up to 700°C.

• The metal sheet coating should be as soft and flexible as possible, but to
prevent corrosion it is often made from a stainless steel jacket

specification can be identified visually

• Spiral-wound gasket dimensions and sizes for ASME B16.5 (flanges up to

24 inches nominal size) and ASME B16.47 flanges (flanges with a nominal
size equal or bigger than 26 inches) are stipulated in ASME B16.20
standard (''Metallic gaskets for Pipe Flanges'').
