RESPECT CURIOSITY RESILIENCE AMBITION

Reading comment
Ajin is a fluent and expressive reader. He enjoys going to the library and recommending books
to his friends. He is able to retrieve information from the text and he is able to make inferences
and predictions using the text to support him. Ajin is able to choose texts which challenge him
and he reads a wide variety. Next year, Ajin should continue to think about the author’s choice
of language and the effect this has on the reader.
Writing comment
Ajin is an imaginative writer and he works hard to ensure he is using the correct punctuation
throughout his work. He uses ambitious vocabulary in his writing however, he needs to ensure
this vocabulary makes sense within the context he is using it. Ajin’s spelling is mostly accurate
and he has worked hard at improving his writing through the use of his targets and by checking
it through and editing carefully.
Maths comment
Ajin has developed his reasoning and problem-solving skills in maths this year. He works well
with classmates on these problems and is able to apply his knowledge well. Ajin is able to use
formal written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ajin is also able to
accurately convert mixed numbers and improper fractions and has a good understanding of
fractions and decimals.
Science comment
This year, Ajin has asked interesting and thought-provoking questions during science lessons. He
has impressed me with his knowledge about space and was able to learn and retain lots of
information about plants and living things. Ajin is able to work scientifically and understands
what is needed to make a fair test.
General Comment
Ajin is an intelligent, hardworking and kind member of the class. Ajin always tries his best and is
always willing to help his peers if they’re in need of support. Ajin has a strong friendship group
and always follows the Northgate charter. Ajin has made good progress across the curriculum
this year. He has enjoyed learning about the Ancient Greeks and showed enthusiasm by asking
lots of interesting questions during class discussions. Ajin also enjoys taking part in team sports
during PE and works well with others. I wish Ajin all the best as he goes into year 6- he will be
missed! Well done on a great year!
