BA Filmmaking Recommendations: A global list of films to watch

The BA Filmmaking team have curated a diverse and extensive collection of (mostly) feature films that
encompass a global perspective, tracing the evolution of cinema as an art form from its inception in 1895
with the Lumiere brothers to the present-day. We've assembled this selection for your exploration, but
please don't feel obligated to view every film. While not every movie may resonate with all of you, it's
important that you become acquainted with them. Establishing contexts for your work and developing
dialogues with filmmakers from various eras can play a pivotal role in shaping unique methods,
techniques and philosophies in your filmmaking

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some of these films have mature content or problematic themes which might be
upsetting, disturbing or controversial. If this is of concern to you, I would suggest before watching any of
them, you undertake some initial research to understand the nature of their content and context. And as
always, the film team are here to discuss any of these films with you.
