Runokuvaelma
HENKILÖT:
LOUHI.
ERÄS VANHA MIES.
NUORI TYTTÖ.
Suomalaisia sotureita.
Pohjolaisia sotureita.
NÄYTTÄMÖ:
Eräs vanha mies, sauvan nojassa kulkeva, tulee nuoren tytön taluttamana.
TYTTÖ:
MIES:
Kysytkö sa mitä itken! Etkö näe, etkö tiedä, ett' on kyllin suruun syytä!
Katso: yö on yllä maiden, maa on tumma, taivas tumma, kaikk' on synkkää,
sumeata. Onko kumma, vaikka itken: Vankina on Suomen päivä, sammunut
on salon huomen, välkettä ei ees ainoata välky Suomen taivahalla. Louhi,
Pohjolan emäntä, akka kuulu, käykkäleuka, kytki päivän kalliohon, kytki
kuun ja telki tähdet Vaaran vaskisen sisähän. Iloa ei maailmassa, kun on
poissa aurinkoinen, kun on Valkeus kadonnut, laannut päivä paistamasta.
TYTTÖ:

LOUHI:
LOUHI:
Saadaan nähdä!
Hahhah, hahhah! Naurattaapi;
Heitä hiiteen haavehesi!
Heitä pois ne, ukko-kulta!
MIES:
Tuki suusi, akka ruoja! Pidä kiinni sa kitasi! Eliös ilku sa ennen aikaa!
Viel' on aika suuri saava, jolloin vailla valtaa olet, jolloin päiv' on
päästettynä Louhen lukkujen takoa.
LOUHI:
MIES:
LOUHI:
MIES:
En ma viitsi riitaan käydä puolihupsun akan kanssa. Kuka elää, se
näkevi.
TYTTÖ:
MIES:
LOUHI:
(Kirkas leimaus.)
MIES:
TYTTÖ:
MIES:
Terve sulle, päivä uusi, terve, ihmeisen ihana! Kiitos, taatto taivahassa,
että vielä löytyi maassa miestä miekankäyttäjätä! Sit' en äsken luullut oisi.
Nyt sen uskon ja häpeän sanojani äskeisiä… Anna ne anteeksi, jumala!
Puhuinhan ma tietämättä. (Louhelle.) Akka, mi on aatoksesi?
LOUHI:
MIES:
LOUHI erikseen:
(Aseiden kalsketta.)
MIES:
Kuule! Sankarit tulevat… Paras, että laitat luusi tästä hieman loitommalle
...
LOUHI:
MIES:
Siit' ei epäilystä.
LOUHI:
Mokomia! Hahhah, hahhah! Tiedä, että Pohjan Louhi ei ole konsana
pelännyt eikä anonut armahdusta, madellut matona maassa! Ylpein otsin
käy hän aina — Se sa tiedä, ukko rähjä! — Nyt ma menen, mutta kerran
tulen kuin tulenkin takaisin. Silloin vapise, Kalevan kansa, pelkää, pelkää ja
vapise! En ma tule tuulispäänä vienona ja hiljaisena, tulen koskena
kohisten, rajusäänä raivokkaana, tulen melskeellä, melulla… Silloin vapise,
Kalevan kansa!
(Pois.)
MIES:
TYTTÖ:
(Valmistautuvat.)
ERÄS POHJOLAINEN:
Niin, kas niin, mun poikaseni, sillä tavoin, sillä tavoin! Vielä mekin
voittaa voimme, Vielä onni meitä suosii, viel' ei kaikk' ole hukassa.
SUOMALAISET:
LOUHI:
Uljuutta, mun poikaseni.
Palkkanne suuri on oleva!
SUOMALAISET:
Oi, te untelot urohot, miehet pelkurit ja raukat, teidän syytänne tää kaikki
— Sit' en jätä kostamatta — Jumalauta! sen ma vannon.
(Pois.)
MIES:
Kuule kuinka linnut laulaa, kuule, kuinka käet kukkuu Suomen onnea,
suloa iloks' ihmislapsosille!
HUOMENVIRSI:
TYTTÖ:
Totta, totta mun isoni! En ma tiedä miten voisin iloani ilminäyttää; mutta
sen, sen ma tiedän, että onni maan ja taivaan sielussani sulauupi yhteen
yhdeksi iloksi; ja sen tiedän, että mielein kirkas on kuin suvipäivä, ja sen,
että rintani mun lyö ja velloo lähteen lailla, pulppuaa kuin kevätpuro
nuorna, nuorna ja pyhänä…
MIES:
Terve, päivä, kirkas päivä, terve huomen hohteleva, joka jäljestä surujen
taivaallamme päilyt taasen!

HERRA KOULUMESTARI
HENKILÖT:
NÄYTTÄMÖ:
Koulumestari: Maiju!
Koulumestari: Jaha, jaha… sen minä kyllä uskon. Sinä olet todellakin
kuuliainen ja kiltti tyttölapsi, Maiju.
Maiju: Ettei herra Koulumestari nyt vaan pahastuisi, kun minä tulin
häiritsemään… Se esitelmä…
Koulumestari: Esitelmi!
Maiju (Itsekseen): Hän on aina niin hyvä. Oi jospa hän tietäisi miten
paljon häntä rakastan, ja nyt hän on varmaankin kukaties miten hellästi
kiintynyt tuohon pappilan kaunottareen.
Koulumestari: Niin juuri, tuota, se oli juuri tuo äskeinen asia, josta minä
tahdoin huomauttaa… taota…
Maiju: Kyllä minä tiedän, herra Koulumestari. Olen oppinut sen kirjoista.
Pekkola: Minä sanon teille yhden asian. Juhlan ohjelma on aikoja mennyt
menojaan. Kello löi äsken puoli yhdeksän.
