How to

properly use
gradients

Using gradients can be
tricky but the general
idea is to create a
smooth and subtle
transition.

Jeiel OS
@ s kt c hwja y what do I mean?
The contrast between
the colors involved
should be minimal.
this contrast could be in; hue, saturation or
brightness or a careful combination of all or just
two of these parameters.

hue contrast brightness saturation

@ s kt c hwja y don’t leave me!
There is one general
guide though.
For the best and smoothest transition, adjacent
colors on a gradient should be very much
closer on the color wheel than further apart.

nice great for not so great,

backgrounds (except for
special use).

Jeiel OS
@ s kt c hwja y for example
red-yellow is much
smoother than
red-green.

instead, red-green can (generally a Hue value difference of
be red-yellow-green. 30-60 degree does a good job).

Jeiel OS
@ s kt c hwja y yes, there is more
with this you can either
go minimal for simple
backgrounds.

@ s kt c hwja y or
go crazy with some which is great by the
poster art. way.

Jeiel OS
@ s kt c hwja y one advice is to
Understand the feel
you want to achieve
then apply the right
level of contrast
between your
selected colors to
achieve it.
