PWHS INSTRUMENTAL AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

All students who wish to audition for Wind Ensemble or Chamber

Ensemble must complete the following audition process:

• WIND ENSEMBLE or CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

o Chamber Ensemble must include recommendation.
o 4 Major Scales – Tempo 92 per Quarter Note
§ C Instruments – F, Bb, Eb, Ab Major Scales
§ Bb Instruments – G, C, F, Bb Major Scales
§ Eb Instruments – D, G, C, F Major Scales
§ F Instruments – C, Eb, Bb, G Major
o 2 Minor Scales – Tempo 92 per Quarter Note
§ C Instruments – G, C Minor Scales
§ Bb Instruments – E, A Minor Scales
§ Eb Instruments – E, B Minor Scales
§ F Instruments – D, G Minor
o Chromatic Scale – Tempo 80 per Quarter Note
o Playing Excerpt
§ Song Selection from the Spring Music Folder
§ Student Selected to demonstrate their playing ability.
o Sight Reading – Prepared by Mr. Hammersmith

• PERCUSSIONISTS – Include these Rudiments to the above

audition materials. To be completed on the snare drum.
