This report is based on the survey conducted to determine the correct answers chosen for the English
Grammar test. The test is conducted among 30 respondents whom are 25 – 45 years of age.

A. The easiest items in this survey were questions 1,3,4,6,9 & 10. These were direct easy grammar
components which enabled the respondents to pick the correct answer within seconds.
Respondents were able to engage with their innate grammar knowledge which was learnt during
their schooling years.
B. Question 5 & 11 seemed to be the most difficult to answer to the respondents as the answers were
all qualifying to be the rightful answers. However, the confusion could have arose because of the
meaning of each word that was applicable to the question. For example, Question 5’s choices of
answers were all applicable to the said question, hence …

C. In our opinion, the least discrimination item would be Question 11. This question seem to be a
confusing as the option of answers given seem to fit but only the right one will carry the correct
meaning. Hence, respondents must be aware of the correct use of preposition that will match.

D. Question 12 would be the most discriminating item with the option answers matching the question
perfectly well. However, the answers should also be rationale, hence 2 options here are quite
close. This is discriminating simply because either of the answer can be correct, and yet only 1
correct answer is wanted.

E. Overall, the test questions set seem to be on a balanced level. With 6 questions being the easiest
to answer, and 1 being difficult, the respondents may take a little more time on the discrimination
questions. Please do bear in mind that the time allocated for the test is on 30 minutes. It may seem
that it is a whole lot of time given for just 12 questions, but the least and most discriminating
questions may certainly require more than a minute or so, to come out with the correct answer.

In conclusion, based on the reliability index, r=0.5. It shows that the whole mini test conducted is highly
reliable and the item are valid.
