I. Objectives
A. Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other text types serve as ways of expressing and
resolving personal conflicts, also how to use strategies in linking textual information, repairing, enhancing communication
public speaking, emphasis markers in persuasive texts, different forms of modals, reflexive and intensive pronouns.
B. Performance Standard:
The learner composes a short but powerful persuasive text using a variety of persuasive techniques and devices.
C. Learning Competency:
Appraise the unity of plot, setting and characterization in a material viewed to achieve the writer’s purpose. (EN10VC-
IVc-29)
D. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the Grade 10 students will be able to:
1. Identify the Elements of a Short Story;
2. Enumerate the Parts of a Plot;
3. Characterize the two characters Joaquin and Cristina based on a given scenario;
4. Provide a possible solution to the given situations;
5. Analyze the plot of the story “Orpheus”; and
6. Explain the author’s purpose in writing the story “Orpheus”. (EN10VC-IVc-29)
