Guidelines for Scanning and Uploading of Photograph, Signature & Left Thumb Impression

Before applying online, a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph,
signature and Left Thumb Impression (LTI) as per the specifications given below (Online Application will not be
registered unless the candidate does not upload his/her photograph, thumb impression and signature as specified):

Photograph Specification:
Following points should be kept in mind while selecting the photo to be uploaded in the online application form:

a. Recent color passport size photograph that should not be more than 6 months older from the date of
registration.
b. Make sure that the picture is in colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably white, background.
c. Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
d. Make sure that you are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows.
e. If you have to use flash, ensure there's no "red-eye".
f. If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen.
g. Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your
face.
h. Allowed Photo Size – 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
i. Size of file should be less than 80 kb
Signature Image
a. The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink/Gel pen.
b. The signature in BLOCK letters will not be accepted. The signature should be done in running hand.
c. The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by any other person.
d. The signature will be used to put on the Hall Ticket and wherever necessary.
e. If the Applicant's signature on the answer sheet and attendance sheet, at the time of the examination, does
not match the signature on the Hall Ticket, the applicant will be disqualified.
f. Dimensions 3.5 cm x 1.5cm (preferred)
g. Size of file should be less than 80 kb

Left Thumb Impression Image


a. The applicant has to put his Left Thumb Impression(LTI) on white paper with Blue/Black Stamp Pad.
b. The LTI must be given only by the applicant and not by any other person.
c. If the Applicant's LTI on the attendance sheet, at the time of the examination, does not match the LTI on
the Hall Ticket, the applicant will be disqualified.
d. Dimensions 3.5 cm x 1.5cm (preferred).
e. Size of file should be less than 80 kb
f. If a candidate does not have a left thumb, then he may use his right thumb. If both the thumbs are missing,
the impression of the left hand’s finger can be taken. If no fingers are available, the impression of toe
maybe taken. In all such cases if the candidate cannot upload left thumb impression, then the candidate
should specify the same in a hand written declaration.
Scanning the photograph, signature & Thumb Impression
a. Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch).
b. Set Color to True Color.
c. File Size as specified above.
d. The image file should be JPG or JPEG format. An example file name is: image01.jpg or image01.jpeg.
Image dimensions can be checked by listing the folder files or moving the mouse over the file image icon.

Procedure for Uploading the Photograph and Signature


a. There will be three separate links for uploading Photograph, Signature and Left Thumb Impression.
b. Click on the respective link "Upload Photograph / Signature/LTI"
c. Browse and Select the location where the Scanned Photograph / Signature/LTI file has been saved.
d. Select the file by clicking on it
e. Click the 'Upload' button

Notes:
 The area containing the signature/thumb impression on the white paper should be uploaded not the whole
paper.
 Candidates using MS Windows/MSOffice can easily obtain photo, signature and LTI in .jpeg format not
exceeding 80 KB & 50KB (for signature & LTI) respectively by using MS Paint or MSOffice Picture
Manager. Scanned photograph and signature in any format can be saved in .jpg format by using 'Save As'
option in the File menu and size can be reduced below 80 KB by using crop and resize the image.
 In case the face in the photograph or signature or Left Thumb Impression is unclear, the candidate's
application may be rejected.
 After registering online, candidates are advised to take a printout of their system generated online
application forms.

Candidates wearing spectacles must ensure that their eyes are clearly visible and the spectacles are free from
any reflections.

The photo should have full face of the candidate and it should not be cropped like the left photo in below
sample.
The signature should be sharp and clear, smudged and blurred images of the signature will not be accepted.

The candidate should put his thumb straight while taking the thumb print impression. It should not be tilted.

The candidate must ensure that the uploaded impression is not inverted or blurred. It should be clearly visible so
the board can take it into use.
