COURSE / SECTION: CWTS102
ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: Volunteerism

Conflict Identification

Jaja is a student and an ideal volunteer. She shows that volunteering at a younger age will bring a
lot of improvements and development on self. Beyond service and action, volunteerism improves
one’s confidence and perseverance to succeed in her career by realizing the needs of her
community. She shows that volunteerism doesn’t require talents or personality, it requires
genuineness and compassion to have limitless contributions. She does whatever she can do to
contribute. No matter how life challenged her beliefs in humanity and perception of the world,
volunteerism continues to keep her sane and believe in the goodness of people.
Plan of Action
Having the volunteerism attitude in me, I can fulfill my duties as an NSTP student and Filipino. My
volunteering life is like Jaja’s journey. I started at the age of 5 when I genuinely gave my unfit
clothes to children. When I was 8 years old my school gave me a chance to participate in the
school’s feeding program, I distributed food and school supplies and play with the children. In
high school, the subject araling panlipunan requires us to expose ourselves to people which
outreach programs became our projects. I visited Juan Sumulong School for educational
assistance. I took care elderlies in Immaculate Concepcion Missionary; I washed their clothes, aid,
cleaning their place, and washing their plates. I visited Barangay 594 in Sampaloc, Manila to teach
out of school youth. And give kabuhayan package to a resident of Barangay 465 during my 10th
grade. The attitude of volunteerism is still with me, I still gave food and clothes to the needy and
the two missionaries that I have visited. I want to level up my experience as I want to venture on
and made my own organization that will improve the lifestyle and education of the children.
Reflection

Volunteering at a young age would give you an edge. You will be aware of and exposed to your
community problems which will give you the drive to act genuinely. It will develop your
confidence when speaking and collaborating with people. And will give you the perseverance to
succeed in your career and to help your community. Talent and personality are not required in
volunteerism. Genuineness and compassion are what you need in volunteering. These attitudes
would give you happiness and sense of fulfillment when doing your community projects.
Ultimately, your outlook in life is the betterment and goodness of everyone.
