In the name of Allāh, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

،‫ت‬ ‫ وأن َيعل‬،‫اآلخر ِة‬

ِ ‫الك‬ ‫أسأل اهلل‬
َ َّ ُ َ ْ ُ َ َ َّ َ َ َّ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ َ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ
.‫الس َعاد ِة‬ ‫اس َتغف َر؛ ف ِإن ه ُؤَّل ِء اثلَلث عنوان‬ ‫ و ِإذا أذنب‬،‫ِل صَب‬ َ ‫ و ِإذا ابت‬،‫وأن َيعلك ِممن ِإذا أع ِطي شكر‬
ِ
I ask Allāh, the Most Generous, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to protect you in this
world and the hereafter. May He make you blessed wherever you are, and may He make you from
those [people] that:
- When given, are thankful;
- When tested, are patient;
- When they sin, they seek forgiveness.

Indeed, these three [characteristics] are the keys to happiness.

ُ َ ‫أَ ْر َش َد‬- ‫أَ ْعلَ ْم‬
‫ َوبِذلِك‬،‫ين‬ ِ ‫و‬ ‫اهلل‬ ‫د‬‫ب‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ن‬ ‫أ‬ : - ‫يم‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ا‬‫ر‬‫ب‬

.‫ َوخلق ُه ْم ل َها؛ ك َما ﭧ ﭨ ﭽ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭼ‬،‫اس‬

ِ َّ‫َجيع انل‬ ُ ‫أَ َم َر‬
ِ

Know, may Allāh guide you to His obedience, that Al-Ḥanīfiyyah, which is the religion of
Ibrāhīm, is to worship Allāh alone, making the religion sincerely for Him. And with this, Allāh
commanded all people, and He created them for it, [worshipping Him alone]. As He, the Most
High, says: ﴾ I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.﴿ [51-56].

‫ كما أن الصَلة‬،‫يد‬ ِ ‫ فأعلم أن ال ِعبادة َّل تسَّم ِعبادة إَِّل مع اتلو ِح‬:‫ف ِإذا عرفت أن اهلل خلقك ِل ِعبادتِ ِه‬

‫د‬ ‫س‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ة‬ ‫اد‬‫ب‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ِف‬ ‫ك‬ ْ َّ ‫ فَإ َذا َد َخ َل‬،‫ارة‬
ُ ‫الَّش‬ َّ ‫ََّل ت ُ َس ََّّم َص ََل ًة إ ََّّل َم َع‬
َ ‫الط َه‬
ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ
When you have acknowledged, Allāh created you for His worship, know then worship is
not regarded as being worship unless accompanied by Tawḥīd, just as the Ṣalāh (prayer) is not
considered as Ṣalāh except accompanied by ṭahārah (ritual purification).
Similarly, if Shirk infiltrates worship, it is invalidated, just like ḥadath (impurity)
[invalidates] ṭahārah when it enters.

ِ ِ ‫احبه ِمن اخل‬ ِ ‫ وصار ص‬،‫ وأحبط العمل‬،‫ف ِإذا عرفت أن الَّشك إِذا خالط ال ِعبادة أفسدها‬

.‫هلل‬
ِ ‫ِه الَّشك ِبا‬ ِ ِ ‫ِك؛ لعل اهلل أن ُيلصك ِمن ه ِذهِ الشب‬ َ ‫عرفت أن أهم ما عليك مع ِرفةَذل‬
َ َ ََ ُ َ ََ َ َ ََ ََْ َ ْ َ َ ََ
:‫ِد ذكرها اهلل تعاَل ِِف ِكت ِاب ِه‬َ ‫وذلِك ِبمع ِرف ِة أربعِ َقواع‬
When you have acknowledged that Shirk when mixed with worship, invalidates it, negates
all actions, and enters the person [committing Shirk] into the Fire forever, you will therefore realize
the most important matter upon you is: To have knowledge regarding this; for Allāh to save you
from the abyss of committing Shirk with Him.
This is by knowing four principles, which Allāh, the Most High, has mentioned in His
Book:

The First Principle

ِ ِ ‫ازق الم‬
ِ ‫ م ِقرون أن اهلل هو اخلا ِلق الر‬ ‫هلل‬ ِ ‫اَّلين قاتلهم رسول ا‬ ِ ‫ أن الكفار‬:‫أن تعلم‬
َ َ ُ ُ ْ َ ُ َّ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ُْ ُْ ََْ ُ

‫ ﭽ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬ ‫اإلسَلمِ ؛ وادل ِِلل قو‬ ‫ِف‬

‫ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯﯰ ﯱ ﯲﯳ ﯴ ﯵ‬

.‫ﯶ ﯷ ﭼ‬

You should know the disbelievers, whom the Messenger of Allāh  fought, used to affirm
that Allāh is the Creator, the Sustainer, the One Who gives life, the One Who causes death, and
the One Who controls all the affairs. Yet, this [belief alone] did not enter them into Islām.
The evidence [of this] is the saying of the Most High: ﴾ Ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Who
provides for you from heaven and earth? Who owns ˹your˺ hearing and sight? Who brings forth
the living from the dead and the dead from the living? And who conducts every affair?” They will
˹surely˺ say, “Allāh.” Say, “Will you not then fear ˹Him˺? ﴿ [10-31].

The Second Principle
َ َ َّ َ ُ َ َ َّ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ ُ ُ َ ْ ُ َّ َ
.‫ب الق ْرب َِة َوالشفاع َِة‬
ِ ‫ ِإَّل ِلطل‬،‫ ما دعوناهم وتوجهنا ِإِل ِهم‬:‫أنهم يقولون‬
They, [the disbelievers], say: “We do not call upon them, [the false gods], and turn towards
them except to seek nearness and intercession [to Allāh].”
َ َ َُُْ َ ْ ُ ُ َ َ
‫ ﭽ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫فد ِِلل القرب َِة؛ قو‬

.‫ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﭼ‬

The evidence [of them claiming to seek] nearness is His saying: ﴾ As for those who take
other Awliyāʾ (lords and protectors) besides Him, ˹saying,˺ “We worship them only so they may
bring us closer to Allāh,” indeed Allāh will judge between all regarding what they differed about.
Allāh certainly does not guide whoever persists in lying and disbelief. ﴿ [39-03].

‫ ﭽ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫ود ِِلل الشفاع َِة؛ قو‬

‫ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ‬

.‫ﯡ ﯢ ﭼ‬

The evidence [of them claiming to seek] Intercession is the saying of the Most High:
﴾They worship besides Allāh others who can neither harm nor benefit them and say, “These are
our intercessors with Allāh.” Ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Are you informing Allāh of something He
does not know in the heavens or the earth? Glorified and Exalted is He above what they associate
˹with Him˺!” ﴿ [10-18].

ْ ‫ب م ْن َغ‬ َ ُ َ َ َّ َ
ْ َ‫ َما ََكن‬:‫َالم ْنف َّي َُة‬
:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫يما َّل يق ِد ُر َعليْ ِه ِإَّل اهلل؛ وادل ِِلل قو‬ ‫هلل ِف‬

.‫اع ِة‬ ِ‫والشاف َِع مكرم ب‬

‫اإلذ ِن؛ ك َما ﭧ ﭨ ﭽ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ‬
ِ ‫ من ر ِِض اهلل قوَل وعمله بعد‬:‫َل‬
َ ‫والمشفوع‬

.‫ﯠﯡ ﭼ‬

Ash-Shafāʿah [comprises] two types of Intercessions: The Negated Intercession and the
Affirmed Intercession.
The Negated Intercession is that which is sought from other than Allāh for something
only Allāh can provide. The evidence is the saying of the Most High: ﴾ O you who have attained
īmān (faith)! Spend ˹for the sake of Allāh˺ from what We have provided for you before the arrival
of a Day when there will be no bargaining, friendship, or intercession. Those who disbelieve are
˹truly˺ the wrongdoers. ﴿ [2:254].
The Affirmed Intercession is that which is sought from Allāh.
The Intercessor is honored with the intercession.
Also, the one who is interceded for is he whose deeds and speech are pleasing to Allāh,
after He gives permission. As He, the Most High, says, ﴾ Who could possibly intercede with Him
without His permission?﴿ [02:255].

ُ‫القَاعِدَةُ الثَّالِثَة‬
The Third Principle
َ ‫لَع أُنَاس ُم َت َف ِّرق‬
ََ َ َ َ َ
َ
.‫ني ِِف ِع َباداتِ ِه ْم‬ ِ ِ َّ َّ‫أ َّن انل‬
‫ ظهر‬ ‫ِب‬ ِ
The Prophet  arose among a [group of] people who differed in their [objects of] worship.
َْ َّ َْ ُْ
.‫ َم ْن يع ُب ُد الش ْم َس َوالق َم َر‬:‫مِنه َْم‬
Among them were [people] who worshipped the sun and the moon.
َ َ ََ ُُْ َ ْ َ ُْْ َ
.‫المَلئِكة‬ ‫ من يعبد‬:‫ومِنه َم‬
Among them were [people] who worshipped the angels.
َ
َ ‫الصاحل‬
.‫ني‬ ِِ َ ‫ َم ْن َي ْع ُب ُد األنْب َي‬:‫َوم ِْن ُه َْم‬
َّ ‫اء َو‬
ِ
Among them were [people] who worshipped the prophets and the righteous people.
َ ‫ج‬ ْ َ َ َ َ َْ ُُْ َ ْ َ ُْْ َ
َ ‫ح‬
.‫ار‬ ‫ من يعبد األشجار واأل‬:‫ومِنه َم‬
Among them were [people] who worshipped trees and stones.
َ َ ُ ُ ْ َ ُ َّ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ ُ ِّ َ ُ ْ َ َ َّ ُ ُ َ ْ ُ َ َ َ
‫ ﭽ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬ ِ ‫َوقاتلهم رسول‬
‫ ولم يفرق بينهم؛ وادل ِِلل قو‬، ‫اَّلل‬

.‫ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝﯞ ﭼ‬

The Messenger of Allāh  fought them all and did not differentiate between them. The
evidence is the saying of the Most High: ﴾ And fight against them until there is no fitna (disbelief,
polytheism, and persecution) and ˹until˺ the entire religion is for Allāh ˹alone˺. ﴿ [08:39].
َ َ َُُْ َ َ َ ْ َّ ُ َ
‫ ﭽ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫ف َد ِِلل الشم ِسَوالقم َِر؛ قو‬

.‫ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﭼ‬

The evidence [that they worshipped] the sun and the moon is the saying of the Most High:
﴾ And among His signs are the day and the night, the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the
sun or the moon, but prostrate to Allāh, Who created them ˹all˺, if you ˹truly˺ worship Him
˹alone˺. ﴿ [41:37].

‫ ﭽ ﭑ ﭒ ﭓ ﭔ ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘ ﭙ ﭚ ﭛ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫ود ِِلل المَلئ ِك َِة؛ قو‬

.‫ﭜ ﭝ ﭞ ﭟ ﭠ ﭡﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥ ﭦﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭼ‬

The evidence [that they worshipped] the angels is the saying of the Most High: ﴾ And
˹consider˺ the Day He will gather them all together, and then ask the angels, “Was it you that
these ˹polytheists˺ used to worship?” They will say, “Glory be to You! Our loyalty is to You, not
them. In fact, they ˹only˺ followed the ˹temptations of evil˺ jinn, in whom most of them had
faith.” ﴿ [34:40-41].

‫ ﭽ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ‬:‫ود ِِلل األنبِياءَِ؛ قوَل تعاَل‬

‫ﮉ ﮊﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ‬

.‫ﮥ ﮦﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﭼ‬

The evidence [that they worshipped] the Prophets is the saying of the Most High: ﴾ And
˹on Judgment Day˺ Allāh will say, “O ʿĪsā (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you ever ask the
people to worship you and your mother as two gods besides Allāh?” He will answer, “Glory be to
You! How could I ever say what I had no right to say? If I had said such a thing, you would have
certainly known it. You know what is in myself, but I do not know what is in Yours. Indeed, You
˹alone˺ are the Knower of all unseen. ﴿ [05:116].

‫ ﭽ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫ِي؛ قو‬ ِ ‫َود ِِلل الص‬
َ ‫احل‬

‫ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ ﯰ ﯱﯲ ﯳ ﯴ‬

.‫ﯵ ﯶ ﯷ ﯸ ﭼ‬

The evidence [that they worshipped] the righteous people is the saying of the Most High:
﴾ Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Invoke those you claim ˹to be divine˺ besides Him—they do not have the
power to undo harm from you or transfer it ˹to someone else˺.” ˹Even˺ the closest ˹to Allāh˺ of
those invoked would be seeking a way to their Lord, hoping for His mercy, and fearing His
punishment. Indeed, your Lord’s torment is fearsome.﴿ [17:56-57].

The evidence [that they worshipped] the stones and trees is the saying of the Most High:
﴾ Now, have you considered ˹the idols of˺ Lāt and ʿUzzā, and the third one, Manāt, as well? ﴿
[53:19].

ِ ‫ ذات أن‬:‫ يقال لها‬،‫ يعكفون ِعندها وينوطون ِبها أس ِلحتهم‬،‫َّش ِكني ِسدرة‬
‫و‬ ِ ‫ولِلم‬
َْ ُ َ ْ َُ َ َ َْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ َ َْ ُ َ َ ْ َْ َ َ
ِ ‫اط كما لهم ذات أن َو‬
.‫اط‬ ٍ ‫هلل! أجعل نلَا ذات أن َو‬ ِ ‫ يا رسول ا‬:‫فم َررنا ب ِ ِسدرةِ فقلنا‬
َ َ ْ َُ ْ َ َ َ َ َ َْ َّ ُ ْ ُ ُ َ ُّ َ َّ ُ َ ْ َ ُ ُ َُ َ ََ
َ‫ْسائ ِيل‬‫ َكماَقالتَبنوَ ِإ‬-ِ ‫ َواَّلِيَنف ِِسَبِي ِد َه‬-َ ‫َقلت ْم‬،‫َن‬ ‫ اهللَأكَب!َ إِنهاَالس‬: ‫هلل‬ ِ ‫فقال رسول ا‬

.»‫ ﭽ ﭟ ﭠ ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤﭥ ﭼ‬:‫ل ِموَس‬

As well as the Ḥadīth of Abū Wāqid Al-Laythī , who said: “We departed with the
Prophet  to Ḥunayn, and we had recently left disbelief. The Mushrikūn (polytheists) used to have
a Sidr tree, which they would take as a place of devotion and hang their weapons upon; it had
been named: ‘Dhāt Anwāṭ.’
Then, we passed by a Sidr tree and said: ‘O Messenger of Allāh, appoint for us a
Dhāt Anwāṭ like they have a Dhāt Anwāṭ.’
The Messenger of Allāh  then said: ‘Allāhu Akbar! Indeed, it’s the Sunan (traditions).
[I swear] by the One in Whose Hand is my soul that you have exactly said what the children of
Israel asked Mūsā (Moses): ﴾ O Mūsā! Make for us a god just as they have gods. ﴿ [07:138]’”.

The Fourth Principle
َّ ِّ َ ُْ َ َّ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َّ َ َّ َ َ ً ْ َُْ َ َ ََ ْ ُ َّ َ
،ِ‫الرخا ِء َوُي ِل ُصون ِِف الشدة‬ ‫َّشكون ِِف‬
ِ ‫ي‬ ‫ني‬ ‫ل‬
ِ ‫و‬‫األ‬ ‫ألن‬ ‫؛‬ َ ‫األ َّول‬
‫ني‬ ِ ‫ن‬‫م‬ِ ‫َك‬‫ِش‬ ِ ‫ظ‬ ‫ل‬ ‫غ‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ا‬‫ن‬ ‫ن‬
ِ ‫ا‬ ‫م‬‫ز‬ ‫ِك‬

.ِ‫الرخا ِء َوالشدة‬ ‫ِشك ُه ْم دائِ ٌم ِِف‬ ِ ‫َّشكو زمانِنا‬
ِ ‫وم‬
The Mushrikūn of our time are worse in their Skirk than those who came before. This is
because those who came before committed Skirk during times of ease while directing their worship
sincerely to Allāh during times of difficulty. However, the Skirk of the Mushrikūn of our time is
constant during times of both ease and difficulty.
َ َ ُ ُ ْ َ ُ َّ َ
‫ ﭽ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥ ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ‬:‫َل ت َعاَل‬‫وادل ِِلل قو‬

.‫ﭲ ﭳ ﭼ‬

The evidence is the saying of the Most High: ﴾ If they happen to be aboard a ship ˹caught
in a storm˺, they cry out to Allāh ˹alone˺ in sincere devotion. But as soon as He delivers them
˹safely˺ to shore, they associate ˹others with Him once again˺. ﴿ [29:65].
ُ.‫اهلل أَ ْعلَم‬
ُ ‫َو‬
