1 Setup, 5 Sides –
Surfaced, Drilled and Tapped
Haas base castings are machined on state-of-the-art, 5-side CNC machines. Castings are surfaced, drilled,
tapped and inspected in one setup for higher accuracy and smoother production. Precisely machining all critical
features of each casting eliminates alignment errors in final assembly. High-accuracy in-process inspection
guarantees that every casting meets our
stringent quality standards.
Motion Control
Electronic Thermal
Compensation System
When ballscrews rotate, they generate heat
and expand, which can lead to cutting errors.
Our electronic thermal compensation (ETC)
algorithm models this heating effect and
compensates for screw position.

Brushless
Recirculating Ball Guideways Servo Motors
Haas uses recirculating ball
guideways for each axis of every VMC.
These guideways are preloaded for zero
clearance, and provide full load-
carrying capacity in all directions. They
consume less power, do not require
adjustment and are proven to
outperform sliding box ways for
accuracy and speed. Each guideway is
automatically lubricated to guarantee
long life.
Haas Direct-Coupled

Servo Motors
The Haas automatic lubrication system meters and
distributes oil to all critical components as the machine Our servo motors are coupled

Powerful Vector
Spindle Drives
The Haas-designed vector spindle
drive uses closed-loop, digital servo
technology to provide precise speed
control and peak performance under
heavy cutting loads. These drives allow
you to push the spindle to 150 percent
of the motor’s continuous power rating
for 15 minutes, and to 200 percent for 5
minutes. That’s more performance
headroom than most other spindle
drives on the market.

Spindle Head
Thermal Stability
Enhancements
An independent jacket in our head casting
surrounds the spindle. Coolant is circulated
through this jacket to remove heat generated
by the spindle, which minimizes thermal
distortion of the head. Since the coolant
touches all parts of the machining area, it
accurately reflects the overall temperature of
the machine.
To further improve thermal stability, we’ve
insulated the spindle head, and increased the
air flow through the assembly. Cool air enters
from the rear of the machine, flows around the
spindle and exits at the top, away from the
spindle head.
A spindle chiller is available for VF-1
through VF-11 40-taper models. This option
keeps the spindle head at a constant
temperature, even during dry machining.

Chip Removal
Efficient Free-Flow
Enclosure Design
Haas VMCs provide plenty of space for chips,
with no hidden areas in which they can build up.
Sloped panels direct chips to the front of the
machine, where the optional chip auger compresses
them, wrings out the coolant and conveniently
discharges them at the side of the machine.
Chip Auger
Our auger-style chip conveyor automatically
removes chips from the machine, while
compressing them and wringing out the coolant
at the same time. The system senses torque
loads and reverses automatically if a jam occurs.
