GEHO® pumps have a long standing reputation for safety and reliability in
autoclave feed in the minerals processing industry. The particularly high • lurry temperatures: 47°C to

temperature and abrasiveness of some slurries, for example gold and nickel 240°C
slurry, are easily handled by GEHO® PD pumps.

Each step in the evolution of high pressure and high temperature slurry pumping Benefits
has demanded technical innovations in pump design and construction materials: • Low energy consumption
• First generation: vertical dropleg pumps were developed for gold autoclaves in • Recorded availability of 96%
the USA, 1984 (typically <200 m³/h, 175°C).
• Low maintenance costs
• Second generation: horizontal dropleg pumps were developed for the laterite
nickel projects in Western Australia and supplied mid 1990’s (typically 400 m³/h, • Special valve design for high
<205°C). temperature: metal-metal
• Third generation: enhanced horizontal dropleg pumps (GEHO® Heatbarrier supporting and sealing
pumps) were developed for the Philippines (343 m³/h @ 50 bar @ 208°C) and • Worldwide local customer
Australia (323 m³/h @46 bar @ 206°C). The third generation pump was first care support
supplied in 2003.
Low Total Cost of Ownership
Weir Minerals Netherlands has established itself as the technological leader in
high pressure, crankshaft driven, piston diaphragm and hydraulically driven
piston pumps, under the brand name GEHO®. These pumps are currently serving
a wide variety of applications in the mining, mineral processing and pipeline
transportation industries across the globe.

All autoclave feed projects, more than 30 projects with a total of 121 GEHO®
pumps, are testimony to the experience, excellence and commitment of
Weir Minerals to the minerals processing industry for autoclave feed. Our
commitment to this application is illustrated by our historical involvement and
technical innovation in pump design and high temperature slurry pumping.

With this continuous innovation, Weir Minerals Netherlands brings unrivalled

experience in the development of pumps for this application built on knowledge
gained from our long and well proven experience.

Backed by extensive application expertise, Weir Minerals is in a unique position

to offer the best of technology, equipment, service and technical support to
solve your autoclave feed application. With this capacity, GEHO® PD pumps offer
bottom line advantages and low total cost of ownership.

• The sliding bed: allows the pump
to move as a result of thermal Africa, 14
expansion of the droplegs,
eliminating unacceptable stresses
at their connection points.
• Unique valve design combined
with special material selection
results in more than 2,000 hours
valve life in high temperature,
corrosive slurries.
• A cast power end: absorbs
vibrations and reduces internal
stresses
