Effect of deforestation

 Soil erosion
 Climate change
 Biodiversity loss
 Greenhouse gas emissions
 Floods
Soil erosion
 Soil erosion is the detachment and movement of soil particles from the point
of origination through the action of water or wind.

Various Causes of Soil Erosion

 Rain and Rainwater Runoff. During heavy rains, soil erosion is common
 Farming
 The Slope of The Land
 Lack of Vegetation
 Unsheltered Distance
 Winds

Climate change

 Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather

patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil
fuels.
Effects
 Hotter temperature
 Increased drought
 A warming, rising ocean
 Loss of species
 Not enough food
Causes
 Generating power
 Manufacturing goods
 Cutting down forests
 Using transportation

The most important reason to study climate change is to make a positive difference
to the planet and its people.
Biodiversity losses

Biodiversity loss refers to the decline or disappearance of

biological diversity, understood as the variety of living things that inhabit the planet, its
different levels of biological organization and their respective genetic variability, as well
as the natural patterns present in ecosystems.

Example of biodiversity loss:

Biodiversity loss, however, is not just confined to the land. Life in the oceans is being
threatened by overfishing, habitat degradation, pollution, and acidification due to
rising carbon dioxide levels in the sea water.

Causes of biodiversity loss

 Climate change.
 Pollution.
 Destruction of habitats.
 Invasive alien species.
 Overexploitation of the natural environment.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Carbon dioxide (CO2) makes up the vast majority of greenhouse gas
emissions from the sector, but smaller amounts of methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) are
also emitted. These gases are released during the combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil,
and natural gas, to produce electricity.

Cause of greenhouse gas emissions:

Burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock are increasingly
influencing the climate and the earth's temperature.

What are the main sources of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?

Food insecurity

Food insecurity is defined as a household-level economic and social condition of

limited or uncertain to adequate food.

Impact of food insecurity on health

 infectious diseases
 mental health issues
 heart disease
 hypertension
 chronic conditions

(More than 800 million people of worldwide daily suffer from chronic hunger)
