HEAD

Using main colour yarn

You will be starting at the mouth and working around the foundation chain.
Rnd 1: ch 15, 2 sc into the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each of the next 12 ch, 4 sc in last ch turning
as you go to work up the other side of the ch. Sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in the last st. Place marker. (32)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in next st, 14 sc, [2 sc in next st] twice, 14 sc, 2 sc in last st. (36)
Rnd 3: [5 sc, 2 sc in next st] 6 times. (42)
Rnd 4-9: 42 sc.
Rnd 10: [12 sc, sc2tog] 3 times. (39)
Rnd 11-12: 39 sc.
Rnd 13: [11 sc, sc2tog] 3 times. (36)
Rnd 14-15: 36 sc.
Rnd 16: [10 sc, sc2tog] 3 times. (33)

Rnd 20-21: 30 sc.
Rnd 22: [8 sc, sc2tog] 3 times. (27)

Take the eye patch you made and put a safety eye through the
centre of the magic ring, pull the tail tight. Place safety eyes
between rows 12-13. Approx 10 sts apart. Leave the tail of the eye
patch as we will go back and sew around it once the head is
finished.
Begin to stuff, keep adding stuffing as you continue to decrease to
close the head.

Rnd 25: [7 sc, sc2tog] 3 times. (24)

Rnd 26: [2 sc, sc2tog] 6 times. (18)
Rnd 27: [1 sc, sc2tog] 6 times. (12)
Rnd 28: [ sc2tog ] 6 times. (6)

Sl st into the next st to finish off, leave an extra long tail. Weave through the front loops of the last 6
sts and pull tight to close.
Keeping the tail threaded on your needle take it through the head to a stitch close to the outer
edge of the eye without the patch. Put it back in just above the eye to make the eye lid, Put 3
stitches across the top of the eye and then take the tail inside through the head to the back and
make a double knot to secure. Hide the tail inside the head and cut the remainder of the yarn.
(See pictures below as an example of making the eye lids *pictures are from a different pattern but
using the same method **)

Sew around the patch using the cream yarn tail, keep the tail attached and make the eye lid using
the cream yarn in the same way you made the first eyelid.

side of the foundation chain. Sc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the
last st. (12)
Sl st into the next st to finish off. Leave a long tail.
Sew the nose to the face then make a stitch from under the centre
of the nose down to the foundation row of the head. Secure the
end by making a double knot hidden under the nose and hide the
tail inside the head.

Rnd 76-77: 15 sc.

4
Sc into the next 3 sts (or however many needed to get you to the edge of the neck when
flattened) make sure you have stuffed sufficiently, flatten the top of the neck and sc through both
sets of sts to close.
Sew the neck to the back of the head between rnds 18-19.

ARMS (make 2)

Using main colour

Rnd 1: working into a magic ring 10 sc.
Rnd 2-33: 10 sc.
Flatten the top of the arm and sc through both sets of sts to close. *stuffing the arms is optional, I
rarely do*
Sew the arms to the sides of the body approx 5 rows down from the top of the neck.

TOES

To make the toes take a long strand of cream yarn. Put the needle in, between rnds 3-4 on the
foot, leave a tail of yarn hanging out. Bring the needle out between rnds 9-10 and pull the stitch
very tight to gather up the toe. Make 4 of these sts pulling each one tight and Leaving approx 4 sts
between each toe. Take the needle back through to the beginning tail, make a double knot to
secure then hide the tails inside the foot.

TAIL

Using main colour

Rnd 1: working into a magic ring 8 sc.
Rnd 2-25: 8 sc.
Finish off leaving a long tail, sew the tail to the back of the dog.

5
PATCH

Using navy blue and working in rows, ch 1 turn at the end of each row.
Row 1: ch 7, sc into the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch along. (6)
Row 2-5: 6 sc.
Sc around the whole rectangle putting 2 sc in each corner. Finish off leaving a long tail.
Sew the patch to the body of the dog.
Taking a length of cream yarn make some obvious stitches around the sides of the patch just for
decorative purposes.

Make a smaller patch in exactly the same way but starting with a ch 6 so you have 5 sc per row
and only do 4 rows instead of 5. Sew this patch to the top of a leg.
