Cylinder scrapping manual.

1 Introduction.
This document is a part of the COMPANION G.2 cylinder documentation. Document
describes procedures, materials and tools while scrapping damaged cylinders. This manual
describes complete cylinder recycling procedure. Thus any step can be skipped on user
decision.

2 Scope.
This manual is applicable to all cylinder sizes of COMPANION product line.

3 Required parts and materials.

3.1. Tools and equipment for manual replacement:
− angle grinder or cutter;
− side cutter or cutter;
− internal retaining ring pliers
− screwdriver;
− working table 120 x 80 cm;
3.2. Personal protection:
− safety gloves;
− safety shoes;
− safety glasses;
− respirator.

4 Precautionary measures.
− Before any works on cylinder it has to be completely emptied.
− If angle grinder is used to cut a shell it is strongly recommended to use respirator for
protection.
− During cutting by an angle grinder a composite dust is generated, so works have to be
carried in a special zone where it cannot harm equipment or people. Works could be done
outside.

5 Recycling recommendations.
Recycle separate materials following local rules and regulations. Materials marked as reusable
have to be collected and passed for further recycling by a special company.
It is allowed to use composite shell as a fuel for special furnaces, e.g. in cement production or
power generation. Grinded composite shell can be used as filler for concrete production. To
ensure good adhesion of composite chips to a concrete it is recommended to treat chips by
special primer.
Cylinder doesn’t content any materials or substances harmful for environment. Thus all parts of
a cylinder which cannot be recycled can be handled as ordinary garbage. Information on
materials is given below.

− If special tools are not

available make cuts by

− Remove bottom part

remaining from a casing.

− Cut fasteners connecting

− Remove valve (if any).

Blow out or wash out gas
residuals.

− If special tools are not

available remove label
ring by a screwdriver.

− Remove circlip and

extract threaded plug.

− Cut shell into 2 halves.

− Extract liner and flange

semi-rings by a
screwdriver.
