Module 2 ENGL 1 Reflection

My takeaway from the lessons presented in Module 2 is that they have significantly changed my
perspective on how I go about writing paragraphs. Whenever there are writing practices or
simply whenever I begin to read any material, I tend to look for synonyms to not only add to my
vocabulary but to understand words and sentences better. Making this a habit has stemmed
from the lesson “Enhanced Vocabulary” in a way that has helped me be more open to widening
my scope of words and how can I use them to create a better impact. Furthermore, through the
lesson on “Mastery in Sentence Structure”, I am able to re-familiarize myself with how I can
improve writing sentences in a more sensical and concise flow. With practice done by analyzing
presented sentences and paragraphs, I had a strong grasp of how to better correct phrases
such as dangling modifiers and incomplete sentences. Lastly, what I am happiest to learn the
most from would be the lesson on “Supporting Details.” Knowing I am a person who has the
tendency to over-write, understanding how details can affect a paragraph and its content gives
me a sense of how to limit myself and I am reminded of how to avoid overloading details as well
as reducing the use of irrelevant or lacking details. Overall, the lessons presented were quite
useful and informative, especially when it comes to writing essays effectively and concisely.
