Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my sincere interest in the Assistant/Associate Professor position in the
Mechanical Engineering Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, with a focus on
robotics, as advertised with a start date in Fall 2024. With a strong commitment to teaching,
mentoring, and research, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant academic
community at ERAU Prescott.
My academic journey, coupled with my hands-on experience in the field of robotics, aligns
seamlessly with the requirements outlined in the job posting. I hold a PhD in Mechanical
Engineering. While my academic background ensures a solid foundation, my practical
experiences have equipped me with the skills necessary to guide students in robotics-focused
senior capstone design classes and effectively manage robotics lab facilities.
At my previous position as Senior Lecturer at UWE, I had the privilege of leading a
multidisciplinary robotics project team. This experience enhanced my competence in mentoring
design teams and reinforced my commitment to fostering collaborative learning environments. I
have a proven track record of successfully teaching courses in robot kinematics and dynamics, as
well as robotic sensing and control. My dedication to experiential learning opportunities, such as
faculty-mentored undergraduate research, aligns with ERAU's emphasis on providing a
comprehensive and practical education.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's commitment to creating an inclusive and collegial work
environment resonates with me, and I am particularly enthusiastic about contributing to the
department's focus on increasing representation, inclusion, and diversity. As a dedicated
advocate for diversity in STEM, I am committed to fostering an environment where individuals
from all backgrounds can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
My research interests lie in the application of Robotics in the Agricultural sector, and I have a
demonstrated ability to present and publish research findings. My familiarity with the Robot
Operating System (ROS) and practical experience with industrial manipulators further strengthen
my suitability for this position.
Enclosed with this letter are my curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, research statement, and a
statement of professional goals. I have also provided contact information for three professional
references. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss how my experiences and
expertise align with the goals of the Mechanical Engineering Department at ERAU Prescott.
Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the prospect of joining ERAU and
contributing to the academic excellence and innovative research culture that defines the
university.
