Introductory Message
Welcome to TLE 10 – HE (Dressmaking)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of Kabankalan City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western
Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is
developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible
adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic
Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is a self-directed instructional material aimed

to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using
the contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TLE 10 – HE (Dressmaking) Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the
teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and the learner.
This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease the
independent learning.

For the learner:

The TLE 10 - HE (Dressmaking) Activity Sheet is developed to help you

continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you
with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active
learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the activities
and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed
schedule.

Draft and Cut Pattern for Ladies’ Trouser

I. Learning Competency with Code

Week 1: a. Draft basic/ block pattern.
b. Cut pattern (TLE-HEDM9-12TR-IIIa-h-9).

II. Background Information for Learners

Drafting pattern is the basic foundation for garment construction. The result of
your output depends on the pattern you have drafted with the accurate body
measurement. There are two parts of drafting pattern for ladies’ trouser the front part
and the back part.

Before starting to draw, arm yourself with the following:

 a large sheet of paper/ pattern  calculator
paper/ manila paper  pencil and eraser
 a long ruler  calm and patience
 french curve

Carefully take your measurements:

 waist size  leg length
 hip size  back waist length
 knee circumference  knee length
 desired ankle circumference  height of waist

Let’s begin the construction of the pants. The front and back pattern will be
drawn side by side:

1. Draw the waistline 10 cm from the short edge of your sheet. Then draw all
horizontal lines, parallel to the waistline, from one edge to another. Hips line by
taking into account the height of hips. Back waistline by taking into account the
back-waist length. Knee line by taking into account by knee length. Floor line by
taking into account the leg length.

1
Step 1: Mark A on the
waist line, 20 cm from
the left long edge of
the sheet. Calculate
AB = ¼ of the hips size
and draw two vertical
lines from A and B
(Figure 1).

Step 2: On the back

waistline, add DC to the
left of the vertical line from
A, where DC = 1/20 hips
size – 1 cm.

Step 3: On the bisector

line for DCE (line that
divides the angle into two
equal angles), mark CF =
2.2 cm. Then draw a curve
for DFE (Figure 2).

2
Step 4: Calculate MB = (AB
+ CD) / 2 and mark M on
the waist line. From M draw
a vertical line that
represents the crease. Write
down the measurements
AM and MB on the pattern,
they will be needed for the
construction of the back.

Step 5: Calculate GH =
knee circumference / 2 – 1
cm and divide the result
between the two sides of
the crease.

Step 6: Calculate IJ =
desired wingle
circumference / 2 – 1 cm
and divide the result
between the two sides of
the crease (Figure 3).

Step 7: The back pattern will

be drawn to the right of the
front pattern. Mark BK = 15
cm and AB = KL. From K and
L, draw two vertical lines at
the waist line.

Step 8: On the waist line mark

a point M’ in order to have KM’
= MB and M’L = AM and then
draw the back crease from M ‘.
Add NO = 1/20 hips size + 2
cm (Figure 4).

3
Step 9: On the vertical line passing through O, measure 2 cm below the back
waist line and place a point P.

Step 10: On hips line, measure 3.5 cm to the left of the vertical line from K and
place a point Q. Also mark 3.5 cm to the left of the vertical line from L and place
another point R.

Step 11: On the waistline mark SK = 1.5 cm.

Step 12: Draw a short line, 2.5 cm above and parallel to the waist line.

Step 13: Calculate ST = ¼ waist size + 2.5 cm and mark this measure from the
point S to the extra line above the waist at the point T. Join TRNP points by a
curve (Figure 5).

4
Step 14: Calculate UV = knee circumference / 2 +1 cm and divide the result
between the two sides of the crease.

Step 15: Calculate WZ = Desired ankle circumference / 2 + 1 cm and divide the

result between the two sides of the crease.

Step 16: Join points placed on the vertical and horizontal lines by either curves or
straight lines (Figure 6).
