8. Assertion (A): For no value of n, where n is a natural number, the number 6n ends with the digit
zero.
Reason (R): For a number to end with digit zero, its prime factors should have 2 and 5.
(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
(b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
(c) A is true but R is false.

(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
(b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
(c) A is true but R is false.
(d) A is false but R is true.
11. Assertion (A): If the pair of lines are coincident, then we say that pair of lines is consistent and it has
a unique solution
Reason (R): If the pair of lines are parallel, then the pair has no solution and is called inconsistent
pair of equations.
(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
(b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
(c) A is true but R is false.
(d) A is false but R is true.

13. There are 576 boys and 448 girls in a school that are to be divided into equal sections of either boys
or girls alone. Find the total number of sections thus formed.

15. Find the values of a and b for which the following pair of linear equations has infinitely many
solutions: 2x + 3y = 7; (a + b)x + (2a – b)y = 21

reduced by 200 km/hr and time of flight increased by 30 minutes. Find the original duration of flight
20. The figure given alongside shows the path of a diver, when she takes a jump from the diving board.
Clearly it is a parabola. Annie was standing on a diving board, 48 feet above the water level. She
took a dive into the pool. Her height (in feet) above the water level at any time ‘t’ in seconds is given
by the polynomial h(t) such that h(t) = -16t² + 8t + k.

(i) What is the value of k?

(ii) At what time will she touch the water in the pool?
(iii) Rita’s height (in feet) above the water level is given by another polynomial p(t) with zeroes -
1 and 2. Then find p(t).
21. Amit is planning to buy a house and the layout is given below. The design and the measurement has
been made such that areas of two bedrooms and kitchen together is 95 sq.m.
