INTRODUCTION (1)
Port
A pair of terminals through which a current may enter or leave a
network

INTRODUCTION (2)
Importance
Such networks are useful in communications, control systems, power
systems, and electronics.
Knowing the parameters of a two-port network enables us to treat
it as a “black box” when embedded within a larger network.
Characterization
Two port networks are characterized by the relation between the 4
terminal quantities [V1, I1, V2, I2] out of which 2 are independent.
The various terms that relate the terminal quantities are called
parameters.
