Reading comprehension is the process of creating meaning by coordinating several intricate

procedures, including word reading, work knowledge, and word fluency. The study aimed to
determine the effectiveness of Project RETALE (Reading Engagement Through Technology
Assisted Learning Enhancement) in improving the reading comprehension level of Grade 7 high
school students. This study employed a mixed method design an approached to inquiry that
combined both qualitative and quantitative methods to determine the effectiveness, of Project
RETALE through purposive sampling. Result revealed that students have improvement in reading
comprehension after the implementation of Project RETALE. However, It was revealed that from
frustration to independent the grade 7 students had a big progressed when it comes to reading
comprehension level. More so, there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest
scores of the grade 7 students before and after the implementation. The study suggest that
future studies expand the scope of the research to other sections of a scholarly research paper
and broaden the sample of the study to include the primary pupils who are in the early stages of
developing reading comprehension.

more crucial.
Comprehension activities generally center on listening to lectures from teachers, reading
texts from books, and responding to questions that were given to them by teachers.
Nonetheless, for students to succeed in general education classes, there must possess
strong reading abilities that could enable them to succeed in the complicated material
offered in books. Nonetheless, based on the result given by the Program for International
Student Assessment (PISA) indicated the Philippines ranked third as the lowest in reading
comprehension, which leads to more inadequate learning competencies of the students.
Moreover, effective intervention in improving the reading comprehension level of
students is necessary to help students deal with their reading difficulties and help them
understand the meaning of the word, sentences, and paragraphs.
