UREA Project
(Ultimate Reading Enhancement Activity)
S.Y 2022-2023

I. RATIONALE

Children with learning difficulties have the same psychological needs and
characteristics as other children. Some of them, however may be less able to
comprehend abstracts ideas and concepts. Some may have poor memory, poor level of
motivation, and short span of attention in work situations or associated behavioral
problems. Non- readers or poor readers often have low opinions of themselves and their
abilities. Many times they feel isolated and behavior problems can surface. They can
perform poorly in other subjects because they cannot read and understand the
materials. Often the readers tends to give-up.
So that, teachers are providing extra instructional time to help children achieve
levels of literacy that will enable them to be successful through their school careers and
beyond.
So then, Project UREA is developed to give additional help to Grade 7-10 Level
students who have fallen behind to learn to the best of their ability.
On the other hand, this project allows building Parent-Teacher relationships and
essential for establishing school- family partnership that constitutes the foundation for all
other forms of family involvement in education.

III. Monitoring and Evaluation

This project is school-based, thus the process observer who is in-charge of the
entire program duration is the school-in-charge with the supervision of the District
Supervisor. Moreover, the school-in-Charge will also conduct regular monitoring through
classroom visits during the conduct of the project. Teacher and parent’s participation will
be strictly monitored throughout the program.

Meanwhile, after the year-round project implementation, a series of evaluation

will be done. Part of it is the conduct of Post-test by the teachers using the Phil-Iri/ORVT
post-test tool. Then validation by the school head or PSDS will follow afterwards.
Regardless of whether the project is successful or not, the parents, guardians and
stakeholders should be informed.
