Steps to select authentic journal

for paper publication

Agenda of presentation:
- Peer reviewed Vs Non-peer reviewed or paid journals

- Where to publish my work?

- Scopus, Sci, UGC care list for the journals

- How to select suitable journal if my article is ready?

- Conference Publications Vs Journal Publications.

- Multi-disciplinary Journals Vs Domain specific Journals

- 1 Quality publication Vs 10 paid journal publications

Conference Publication Vs Journal Publication
Conferences are good for meeting and interacting with Whos Who in the
Field.

Conferences Receive bulk paper submissions 100 or more than 100.

Chances of quality review are less.

Selective conferences conducted by Reputed organizations/academia

Like IITs/NITs/IIMs etc should be preferred.

Conference proceedings in Scopus would also be a loq quality affair.

Initial publications should be published in Conferences.

Work with concrete data/resuls/discusssions should be published in

Journals only
Conference Publication Vs Journal Publication
- Journal publications are peer reviewed.

- Only one paper submitted at a time.

- Paper reviewed by domain experts.

- Don’t get disheartened by the rejection.

- Getting comments from the reviewers is most important.

- Work on those comments and resubmit.

- 1 quality journal is better than 5 conference papers or 100 paid

journals with no creditibility.

Why to go for Peer reviewed Journals?
- Domain experts / globally renowned scientists/ domain
- experts review the journals

- Gives creditability leverage to your work.

- Don’t take shortcuts in publishing your work.

- Low quality journals have poor creditability.

- Even if your work is of high standards, publishing in low quality

journals will not get the creditability and acceptance to your work
that it really deserves.

- Publishing One quality Journal every six months or in a year is better

than publishing 10 paid / non-peer reviewed articles in a year Which
have no credibility or acceptance.
Multi-disciplinary Journals Vs Domain specific
journals
- International Journal of Science, Engineering and
Technology.

- International Journal of Refrigeration / Supply Chain

- Management / Thermal Engineering

- Domain specific journals are reviewed by domain

specific experts.

- Open access multi-disciplinary research journals

should be avoided
How do I know low quality / predatory
journals?
- Published in 10 to 15 days.

- Open access.

- Paid journals.

- Communication from Gmail.

- Reviewer comments rarely received.

- 100 % acceptance

- Objective is to earn money.

How do I know good quality?

- Published in minimum 3 to 4 months and at times in 1

year.

- They give a choice of free or open access.

- Communication through journal login or

ijmpc@csrc.ac.cn.

- Reviewer comments received for every submission it may

go through multiple reviews before acceptance.

- Quality journals acceptance is 10 to 30 %

- Objective is quality information and not money.
