GCJTalk 18 Susan and Robert have things to tell Paula and Peter.

Me: Well, yesterday was a great day out! We really enjoyed ourselves!

You: Yes, we certainly did! All those places that we saw were very interesting!

Me: I am pleased that we were able to get a table at Finnegan’s. The meal was
excellent, and the service was great as well.

You: Yes, and Susan got the recipe for that special dish that Colm cooked. She
says that she will cook it as soon as we get home!

Me: Is that right, Susan? Will you come to our house so that we can all enjoy it?

You: (Susan). Of course I can come to your place. I will bring Robert so that he
can wash the dishes at the end of the meal!

Me: Oh! Shame on you, Susan! Poor Robert! He is not used to washing dishes!

You: (Susan). He needs to have some practise in washing dishes for when we get
married!

Me: (Paula). Susan!! What do you mean about getting married? You have not said
anything before now about it.

You: (Susan). No, Robert asked me to marry him when we were on the way back
to the apartment last night. Of course, I said “YES”!! Didn’t I, Robert darling?

Me: (Peter). Robert! You didn’t say anything to us!! Well, congratulations to the
both of you! Paula and I wish you a happy married life!

You: (Robert). Thank you very much! It was you and Paula who brought us
together again. We are so happy, and cannot thank you enough.

Me: (Peter). I am so happy for you both! Paula and I have said that you are very
well suited to each other. When will you get married?

You: (Paula). What a question; you are always in a hurry, Peter! Susan and I will
want to go to the big shops today. You can do something else with Robert.
Me: Oh, I see! You have started planning the wedding already, haven’t you? O.K.
Robert, the ladies say that we must go by ourselves.

You: Take Robert to that shop to see all those electrical goods that you and he
were talking about last night.

Me: That is a very good idea. We can take our time looking at all the new
computers and see what the price is here in Berlin.

You: (Paula). Don’t go spending too much money! Now, off you go. Susan and I
have things to talk about!

Me: Here, Paula, you may as well take the train ticket if you want to go into the
city centre. We are only going into the main street so we do not want to use it.

You: (Paula). Thanks Peter. Now off you go! Goodbye! Ah, Susan, let’s start
talking about you and Robert! I want to hear all of the details!

Me: (Susan). Last night we were walking behind you. I was telling Robert about
how much I had really missed him when my parents and I went away to the other
town. He told me that he had missed me so much.

You: (Paula). Peter and I could see that you were very fond of each other, but
you have still surprised us both by telling us your very good news!

Me: Well, we think that we have lost such a lot of time over the years that we
decided to do something about it. We are so happy together, and I know that we
are doing the right thing in getting married.

You: You are both old enough to know that you are doing the right thing. All that
time when you were apart will be forgotten one day.

Me: Yes, I can understand you saying that, but in a way it has brought us even
closer together than we were before.

You: I can see your point of view! It is so good, and I am so excited! Thank you
very much for telling us this morning. I will remember today forever!
