What is Passive voice?

• The passive voice is a grammatical voice in

which a subject is acted on the verb

• Here the work done is more important than

the subject.

Eg. Tasty food is cooked by Meena.

Active voice: The boy ate the brocolli.

STRUCTURE…
FOR “BE “ FORM. (is/am/are)

For active Voice:

Subject+ verb + object

Example:
He loves music.
Example: 1– I play basketball.
For passive Voice: Passive voice: Basketball is played by me.

Object+ verb+ V3 + by subject Exmaple 2: She eats fruits.

Example: Passive voice: Fruits are eaten by her.
Music is loved by him.
Example: 3. They play cricket.
Passive voice: Cricket is played by them.
 Examples: STRUCTURE FOR PRESENT TENSE.
1. Maya plays hockey. (active ) Simple present – is/ am / are + v3.
Ans. Hockey is played by Maya. (passive) Eg. I write a letter--------- A letter is written by me.

Present continuous- is/am/ are+ being +v3

2. We eat fruits. Eg. I am writing a letter----- A letter is being written by me.
Fruits are eaten by us.
Personal pronouns change their forms in passive voice: Present perfect – has/have + been + v3.
Eg. I have written a letter------ A letter has been written by me.
