Define:
1. Producers- Green plants that can make their own food are called producers.
2. Leaf blade- Broad flat part of a leaf is called leaf blade.
3. Stomata- Tiny holes present on the underside of a leaf are called stomata.
4. Chlorophyll- The green substance present in leaves which is needed for the plants to
prepare food is called chlorophyll.
3. What are the raw materials needed to make food? How plants obtain these raw materials?
Ans: Sunlight, water and carbon dioxide are the raw materials needed for plants to make
food.
" Carbon dioxide gas is absorbed from the air through stomata.
Sunlight is absorbed by chlorophyll.
4. What is food chain?
Ans: A chain of organisms that shows that each organism in the chain depends on the lower
organism for its food is known as food chain.
5. How are plants and animals interdependent?
Ans: Plants give food and oxygen to animals. Animals give out carbon dioxide, which is
needed by plants for photosynthesis.
II. Give Reason:
1. If there is a sudden decrease in the number of animals, then carbon dioxide supplied by
animals may not be sufficient for plants.
