STAGE PLAY REVIEW

Finding for a murder mystery comedy stage play? “The 39 Steps” is the one you’re looking for! Written
by Patrick Barlow, this stage play is based on a novel by John Buchan. The 39 Steps premiered on
Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre on January 15, 2008.

Richard Hannay has been falsely accused of murdering spy agent Annabella Smith in his apartment. He
must run away and save himself from the police and prove his innocence. He sneaked out disguised as a
milkman and took the train to Scotland, where she had told him she was going to. Soon after, Hannay
was chased by a mysterious organization known as "The 39 Steps."

An innocent man is mistakenly accused of a crime and must clear his name. Despite of that, the play is
very lively and interesting. The director added hilarious dialogue to keep the play fascinating.

There were many roles, but only 4 actors performed there. I think it's pretty impressive, even if it's hard.
They all did a great job, they portrayed their characters very well.

I love how the actors change their costumes every other scene, they are so quick. The costumes fit the
mood and theme of the story. The props are very creative. The set is also good.
