Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data

The variation of the time students spent to aggregate the time

management for students academic total achievement

This chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of data gathered out of

the instruments used in the study and is presented according to the specific problem

cited in Chapter 1. This chapter presents the answers to the test of the hypothesis.

The result of the study is presented using the tabular presentations and textual

presentations.

Based on the results from the table above, the majority of the respondents

achieved their desired remarks and agreed with their achievement being related to

time management. Less respondents disagreed with time management being

correlated to their achieved remarks. On the other hand other respondents were

uncertain whether or not they achieved the desired remarks and time management

being related to their achieved remarks. One respondent from the data gathered

does not have intention to achieve desired remarks.

The results from the table above may be associated with the study “The Effect

of Time Management Skills and Self Esteem of Students on Their Grade Point

Averages (GPA)” by Nermin M. Eid, Sanaa M. Safan and Gehan M. Diab (2015),

stating time management being a key factor to a student. The study also stated time
management being one of the factors that affect students' GPA or remarks. The

researchers studied that “Time management is the development of processes and

tools that increase efficiency, productivity and an impact on the success of

students.”.

assignments late is that the underlying reasons for procrastination fall under two

categories: fear of failure or confusion about the first steps of an assignment.

According to the respondents, the majority are able to pass their assignments on

Based on the results from the table above, the majority of the respondents are

able to maximize allotted time for given school taks. On the other hand some of the

respondents disagreed with allotting time for school works or students being neutral

in maximizing allotted time for school tasks.

Majority of the respondents are able to maximize allotted time for school work

while others can’t or depending on the time they may have. While the majority of

respondents agreed, the remaining students stated that other responsibilities

interfere with the time given for working on school works or tasks.

The results from the table above relates to the study “How Students Spend

Their Time” by Andrea L. Welker, P.E., M.ASCE; and Bridget Wadzuk, M.ASCE

(2012) the data their study collected indicated that the amount of time students give

for the work given to them has fluctuated throughout the years. The study stated that

it was discovered that students from 2011 dedicated their time in studying more than

the students from 2004. It was found that students would spend an approximate of

3–4 hours a week for their tasks outside of class and an approximate of 1–1.25

hours outside of class for every hour spent in class.

ranging from a minimum of an hour to a maximum of Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) hours a

day. Three (3) students give time of days to academics ranging from Three (3) days
to a week. Two (2) students base the time they give to academics on teachers and

productivity.

According to the research made by Camille Mahinay (N.D.) entitled "Effects of

Time Allotment in Studying to Academic Performance", the time students allot for

studying has no association on the average grades of students. It stated that it is

indeed a possible outcome since there is no regular basis of the student's total hours

of study.

Based on the table, the majority of the respondents didn't have any time to

rest due to piles of schoolworks while a number of them can accomplish their goal

given to them per week. Piles of schoolwork and making a list or schedule

beforehand are alike and are the most answered by the respondents.

It was consistent with the literature because the survey had results of piles of

schoolwork and making a list or schedule beforehand which was connected to the

one of the studies found in the review of related literature.

The result extended what was found by Thuy Tan entitled “Time

management: A key to Success” (2017). He stated that it is about how you organize

and plan the time you spend on specific activities. The ability to manage your time

can benefit in many ways, not only for students. It helps increase productivity and

efficiency, decreases stress, having greater opportunities to achieve important things

in life. You have to find the strategy that works for you. Practicing time management

skills will allow you to be in control of your time and your life. It will allow you to

maintain balance between your work, personal, and family responsibilities. Time

management is a key to success.

managing your time well is important, thus making time management having a big

role and impact in our daily life. The responses were taken from students of

Dominican College, San Juan, specifically from grade 7 to 12, who took our survey

regarding the variation of the time students spent to aggregate the time management

for students' academic total achievement.

In an article that relates to the study, entitled “Importance of time

management” it is stated that when you can properly manage time, you don’t have to

worry about missing deadlines or forgetting errands, because you already planned

your time in such a way that prevents such mishaps from ever happening. As a

result, you’ll feel less stressed about your workload and more calm about the end

results.

time students spent to aggregate the time management for students' academic total

achievement.

The results supported the study conducted by Vences Cyril, entitled “Time

management and academic achievement of highschool students” It is stated that

training your time management skills helps gives students the ability to plan ahead

and prioritize upcoming assignments and events. This is important because time

management helps students in keeping school works organized and avoiding

procrastination, and ultimately leads to academic success. Time management can

be very useful in a student's hectic schedule.

According to Vences Cyril, an Assistant Professor of Peniel Rural College of

Education, from his study entitled “Time Management and Academic Achievement of

Higher Secondary Students” (2015), “Time management for students includes

setting realistic goals and deadlines for themselves regarding major assignments”.

This is primarily because by managing the time, some of the most common problems

such as stress and lack of time for personal interests, can be solved very effortlessly.

Effective time management enables the person to lead life peacefully, without much

tension.

Summary of Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations

This chapter summarizes the findings, generated conclusions and

recommendations based on the analysis of the result of the study entitled “The

variation of the time students spent to aggregate the time management for students

academic total achievement of High School Students in Dominican College San

Juan for S.Y. 2020-2021”.

Summary of Findings

Based on the results gathered, the following findings are thereby presented:

1. Are you able to achieve your desired remarks or desired grade? If so, do

you think time management has something to do with it?

Based on the data the researchers have collected, the majority of the

respondents (students) are able to achieve their desired remarks (grades) and agree

with time management being related to achieving it.

On the other hand a few students contradicted those who have agreed with

both questions. Two (2) respondents disagreed with being able to achieve their

desired grades,Two (2) respondents disagreed with not being able to achieve their

desired remarks but agreed with the follow up question making time management

being related to achieving desired remarks. Two (2) students being uncertain, and

One (1) student not depending on remarks(grades).

2. Do you tend to complete your assignments on time?

Based on the results from the table, the majority of the respondents

completed their task on time. On the other hand, some of the respondents

answered often and rarely completed the task on time.

3. Were you able to maximize the allotted time given for school tasks?

Based on the data gathered by the researchers, the majority of the

respondents are able to maximize allotted time for given school taks. On the

other hand some of the respondents disagreed with allotting time for school

works or students being neutral in maximizing allotted time for school tasks.

Majority of the respondents are able to maximize allotted time for school work

while others can’t or depending on the time they may have. While the majority

of respondents agreed, the remaining students stated that other

responsibilities interfere with the time given for working on school works or

tasks.

4. Based on your experience as a student, how long do you give time to

academics to achieve your desired remarks?

Based on the data above, all respondents give time to academics but

differ on how long they offer. Eight (8) of the respondents give a time of hours

to academics ranging from a minimum of an hour to a maximum of Ten (10) to

Fifteen (15) hours a day. Three (3) students give time of days to academics

ranging from Three (3) days to a week. Two (2) students base the time they

give to academics on teachers and productivity.

5. Generally, do you think you can usually accomplish all your goals for a

given week?

Based on the data gathered, the majority of the respondents didn't

have any time to rest due to piles of schoolworks while a number of them can

accomplish their goal given to them per week. Piles of schoolwork and making
a list or schedule beforehand are alike and are the most answered by the

respondents.

6. Do you find it hard to balance your time for school, and your time for

your daily life?

The table represents the data about time management, whether they

find it hard to balance their time for school and daily life . Based on the data

gathered, the majority of the students’ answered hard to balance their time for

school and their daily life . While a number of them didn’t find it hard. Lack of

skills in time management and good in time management are alike and are

the most answered by the respondents. While for some, students use their

time to accomplish their tasks in.

7. Do you think it is important to manage your time well?

Based on the data that was gathered, all the respondents have

answered that managing your time well is important. The responses were

taken from students of Dominican College, San Juan, specifically from grade

7 to 12, who took our survey regarding the variation of the time students spent

to aggregate the time management for students' academic total achievement.

8. How relevant do you think time management is in your academic

performance?

Based on the table shown above, (10) out of (18) respondents

answered that time management is relevant in academic performances, while

(4) respondents answered that time management is relevant in academic

performances because it boosts their productivity, then (3) respondents

answered that time management is relevant in academic performances,

because it helps students prioritize and achieve a specific goal in a limited

time. (1) respondent answered that time management is not really relevant in

academic performances, and the last (1) respondent answered that time

management is relevant in academic performances, because time

management has connections with our academic achievement.

9. Do you make a schedule of tasks you need to accomplish within the

day?

This table summarizes that the majority of the students answered

accomplished the task within the day. While a number of them answered they

often accomplished the task and rarely accomplished the task within the day.

10. Do you try to complete one task before going on to the next?

Based on the results from the table shown above are the respondents answer

to the question “Do you try to complete one task before going on to the next?” Most

students complete a task before going to the next task, the respondents were able to

finish the task given and 5 students contracted by answering “Maybe”. The

respondents may accomplish or complete their first task first before proceeding to

the next task.

Conclusions

Based on the results gathered, the following findings are thereby presented:
1. Are you able to achieve your desired remarks or desired grade? If so, do

you think time management has something to do with it?

Based on the question above and the results of the researches were able to

gather, since the majority of the respondents (students) are able to achieve their

desired remarks (grades) and agree with time management being related to

achieving it, the researchers were able conclude that Time management is related to

students achieving desired remarks.

2. Do you tend to complete your assignments on time?

The results showed in the table that almost all respondents completed their task on

time. They are more productive in completing and doing their assignments, and by

completing it, students may be able to take on a different perspective, or experiment

with different options or variables.

3. Were you able to maximize the allotted time given for school tasks?

Based on the question above and the results of the researches were able to

gather, the researchers were able to conclude that students can maximize their

allotted time for school works but conflicts to some students due to other works and

responsibilities such as household chores.

4. Based on your experience as a student, how long do you give time to

academics to achieve your desired remarks?

Based on the question above and the results of the researchers were able to

gather, the researchers were able to conclude that all respondents give time

to academics but differ on how long they offer, some students spend a lot of

hours doing their task to achieve their desired remarks.

5. Generally, do you think you can usually accomplish all your goals for a

given week?

From the data gathered, the researchers came to a conclusion wherein

students didn't have any time to rest due to piles of school work while a

number of them can accomplish their goal given to them per week by making

a list or schedule of their work or goals beforehand.

6. Do you find it hard to balance your time for school, and your time for

your daily life?

The researchers have come up with the conclusion that the students

had a hard time to balance their time for school and their daily life and some

of them didn’t find it hard to balance their time. To conclude, time

As for the students, it is recommended to practice how to prioritize their tasks

and focus on a duty to be able to properly complete on time and do all the

things needed in that span of time. Students must learn to see the positive

sides of being on time.

As for the teachers, they should always have guidance towards deadlines.

They should be balanced on giving homework and activities to students and

must be enough because it is important for students to have a rest at home.

They must avoid their students experiencing frustration by the time. Setting

goals for their subject is also recommended.

3. Were you able to maximize the allotted time given for school tasks?
