Insight 1

 It is a comparatively short paper responding to what the WRITER (YOU) has

seen and heard, explaining his/her feelings and thoughts and relating the subject
to course material or his/her own life. It is a personal composition, thus, it does
not follow a rigid structure. However, each paragraph should still include a topic
sentence and maintain unity and coherence among ideas. It makes use of the
First Person, “I”.

 Steps to Follow in Writing a Reaction Paper:

1. Pick three (3) points that the presentor(s) said or a statement(s) in what you read
that you find meaningful or convincing or that you strongly disagree with. Write
a topic sentence that explains this point and briefly state your reaction to it.
2. Describe your reaction in detail. Write your thoughts, feelings, and observations.
Use analogies or imagery if helpful.
3. Explain the reason for your reaction. Detail why you feel the way you do or why
you think the presentor(s) said, exhibited or displayed what he/she did.
4. Reflect on the significance of the event in relation to the course, school or even
your own life. Discuss how experiencing/listening/attending the course will affect
your future.
5. Conclude your reaction paper with a sentence that brings closure to the ideas you
presented, rather than ending it abruptly.
