ORDER

Considering that the National Capital Region is still on General


Community Quarantine (GCQ) and that all courts are still physically closed, the
hearing proceeded today via videoconferencing as per OCA Circular No. 93-
2020. The viodeoconference hearing today was remotely conducted from the
following places: the courtroom of this station for the Presiding Judge and the
court's staff; the residence of Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Glenda E. Luceres
and the office of Atty. Daryl dela Cruz together with the accused.

Atty. Dela Cruz appeared via videoconferencing as counsel de parte for


accused Jackson Chua y Lu. The plaintiff People of the Philippines is herein
represented by the Public Prosecutor, SACP Luceres.

At today's arraignment, the charge in the Information was read to accused


via videoconferencing in Tagalog, a language known and understood by him, and
the accused, assisted by his counsel de parte, pleaded NOT GUILTY thereto.
Accordingly, let a plea of NOT GUILTY be entered into the records of this case.

On motion of the Public Prosecutor, without objection on the part of the


defense, let the Information be amended to insert “who is a Chinese national”
after the phrase “the said accused.”

As further moved by the Public Prosecutor, the accused through counsel


is directed to submit to the Court a certified true copy of his Alien Certificate of
Registration within five (5) days from today.

Set this case for pre-trial on August 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. via
videoconferencing.

Let it be noted that the accused was directed to remove his facemask so
that his face is recorded.

SO ORDERED.
