Sarambang.id - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) urges the public to be
alert to extreme weather and hydrometeriological disasters until February 2024.

According to official information provided via the official BMKG Instagram account, extreme weather
can occur during the peak rainy season from January to February.

Very heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and high waves has the potential to occur throughout
Indonesia in the next week.

The provinces in Sulawesi that have the potential to experience heavy rain over the next week are
Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and South Sulawesi.

For this reason, BMKG urges the public to be alert to the potential for hydrometereological disasters.

"For people who live in areas prone to landslides and floods, they should increase awareness of the
impacts caused by extreme weather such as floods, flash floods, landslides, slippery roads, fallen
trees and reduced visibility," he said.

Please note, recently there was a flood incident in Labose Hamlet, Laskap Village, Malili District, East
Luwu, South Sulawesi Province, Tuesday. 01/16/24.

The flooding is thought to be the result of the overflowing of the Pongkeru river due to heavy rain
overnight which occurred in almost the entire East Luwu region. As a result, dozens of residential
areas and public facilities in the village were submerged in flood waters up to half a meter high which
occurred starting at 02.30 WITA, early in the morning.

"Around 70 houses were flooded, of those 70 houses there were around 80 families," said the Head
of Laskap Village, Herman Zein. .. move on to the next news
