Impact of COVID 19 on social interaction

The pandemic has caused on social interaction between people. People became more irritable and
hostile when COVID 19 was not present. These findings that showed the negative impact of COVID 19 on
social interaction COVID 19 impact on social interaction has been studied in only few research.

Several changes in people daily routine are changed in pandemic. The majority of people’s activity were
impacted by pandemic. Although many were affected in different ways, there were several changes that
contributed to the overall changes in the social interaction. These changes due to pandemic itself,
government rules.

Study was carried out using self administrated questionnaires, many respondent back.

A total 60 respondent participated in the study, of which 52.4% were males and remaining females.

The majority of participants are

-18 to 25 years old age group people

- in most of the participants house there are 4 people live

- in some household there are 1 or 2 family members are under 18 year old age.

•) 74.6% participants are currently working from home and they didn’t work from home before
introduction of COVID 19 restrictions. And after COVID 19 restrictions are lifted, 25% participants like to
work from home and this negative impact because people don’t like to go outside for work and that’s
affect on social interaction between people. 38.5% participants like to mixture of work from home and
work from office.

•) government’s advice regarding COVID 19 –

98.4% participants follows government advice and 1.6% participants didn’t follow government advice
regarding COVID 19.

•) about maintaining social ties –

15.9% participants extremely concerned about maintaining social ties, 36.5% participants somewhat
concerned about maintaining social ties. And very concerned participants percentage is 47.6%. so
pandemic affect on maintaining social ties.
•) spend on watching TV –

44.4% participants don’t watch TV, in 31.7% participants doesn’t change the time spent on watching
TV, 12.7% participants decreased there watching TV time and 11.1% participants increased there
watching TV time. In spending time on watching TV there is not much affected by COVID 19.

•) spend on internet –

4.7% participants don’t spend time on internet. 14.3% participants doesn’t affect on time spend on
internet. 12.7% participants decreased there time spend on internet. 68.3% participants increased time
spend on internet and that is huge affect of COVID 19 on social interaction.

•) 81% participants like to go social gatherings before COVID 19 and remaining doesn’t like to go social
gatherings.

Now only 50.8% participants like to go social gatherings because of pandemic. And 49.2% participants
don’t like to go social gatherings. This is affected because of COVID -19.

•)76.2% participants still like to go travel with friends/ family as they did before pandemic but 23.6%
participants don’t like to go travels with friends/family after pandemic. 23.6% participants like to travel
alone because of pandemic. They don’t want to social interaction between friends/family.

•)28.6% participants don’t like to hangout with there close once because of pandemic. This participants
wants to hangout alone or they don’t want to go outside. And 71.4% participants still like to hangout
with there close once.

•) during pandemic people more likely to opened to there close once. 47.6% participants opened to
there close once and 20.6% participants insecure to opened to there close once.

•) because of pandemic, 96.8% participants are concerned about there friends/family health. This is
positive impact of COVID 19 on social interaction.

•)60.3% participants feels that they need non- material help like somebody to talk, help with something
or collect of something during pandemic.
