Capture the Flag Event

Organized by Trust Lab

We all live in a digital world that threatens privacy and security. And, while a digitally
interconnected world is convenient, the digital footprint creates many complex security issues
further complicated by cyberspace's vastness and borderless nature.

Hosted at the Computer Science Engineering (CSE) Department of IIT Bombay, IITB Trust
Lab brings together IIT Bombay's expertise in information security, privacy, and, more
broadly, digital trust. The thrust areas of the lab include research, education, development,
and entrepreneurship. Thus, as part of its multi-pronged outreach activities, Trust Lab is
organizing a Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competition for IIT Bombay students in coordination
with the IITB student clubs (Cybersecurity Club & Web and Coding Club). CTF (otherwise
known as "ethical hacking") is a cybersecurity game in which teams or individuals use real
hacking tools to break into the system, detect vulnerabilities, and exploit them to capture an
encoded string. This string is known as a flag. The captured flag is evidence that a player has
discovered a weakness in the system
