Rationale

After seeing the neighborhood and the residents' way of life in Brgy. Wawa,
Batangas City. It called to our attention that there is a significant issue with children’s
low reading literacy and children being not cooperative with other children. A great
attention must be given to those kids who does not have capacity to read, comprehend,
analyze, and critically reflect about a variety of diverse print and digital text kinds on
one's own.
While performing Civic Welfare Training Service, we noticed that some of the
children who are in Grade 4 are nonreaders. While having our “Pabasa
Program/Activity” some of them are just staring into nothing or was distracted by
something because they don’t know how to read. There are also instances that they
keep on running away or leaving the activity without any notice or permission. Other
children also cannot control their feelings that causes small arguments with other
children. Due to this, we decided to focus in enhancing the reading literacy and
cooperative behavior of the children.
To improve the children's reading literacy and cooperative conduct, we came up
with a better and more enjoyable solution. We provided some reading materials and
activities that will help us to do and accomplish our objectives. First, we cleaned the
school surroundings to give the children nice environment to learn and we conducted a
few reading sessions, lesson about sports and a talent show. In this case, children will be
given a chance to cooperate with us and the other children and enhance their reading
and understanding capabilities while sharing their own talents and abilities.
