Hay diferentes formas de hablar acerca de las características de un objeto, persona, lugar, animal, etc. Por ejemplo, existe la
descripción, que es el uso de adjetivos para contar cómo es:
Para comparar a dos objetos o individuos, se usa la forma Para comparar un objeto o individuo con sus similares,
comparativa de los adjetivos. La mayoría terminan en -er: usamos el superlativo. Muchos adjetivos terminan en -est en
su forma superlativa:
Con los adjetivos que tienen dos sílabas o más se deben usar
las palabras more cuando se usa la forma en comparativo, o
most cuando es la forma del superlativo.
La forma comparativa y superlativa de algunos adjetivos (los irregulares) cambia por completo con respecto a la forma descriptiva:
Observa con atención que cuando se usa more o most NO se le
pone -er ni -est al final del adjetivo. Además, con los
comparativos y superlativos irregulares no se utilizan -er, -est,
more ni most
Cuando se quiere comparar dos objetos o individuos para decir cuál es menos que el otro en una característica, NO se usan los
adjetivos comparativos terminados en-er, ni la palabra more; en cambio, se escribe less ____ than. De forma similar, un objeto o
individuo con sus similares, NO se usan los adjetivos superlativos terminados en -est ni la palabra most; en cambio, se escribe the
least. Ejemplos:
My mouse is less big than your dog My hamster is the least big pet at home
Mercedes is less timid than Fernando Mercedes is the least timid student at school
Cuando dos individuos u objetos tienen por igual una característica, se utiliza as __________ as (en medio se escribe el adjetivo).
