Case Company Description

The IT Sector in India is growing at a rapid pace. The increasing


market attractiveness has made this space competitive. Currently,
the estimated market size of the Industry is USD 81 billion with a
growth rate of 12% year on year basis. The market is full of
companies big & small competing for business. You and your team
have been appointed as Human Resource Manager for Nify Inc.
one of the oldest and biggest IT companies in the market.

Your responsibility covers Human resource operations. The


business expects some requirements every year based on the
sales function projections. As Human Resource Manager, you have
to take multiple decisions in each financial year regarding
recruitment, compensation, learning & development, and
organisational effectiveness.

Your team manages the operations from Mumbai, India. The


company has a workforce located at multiple places in India.
However, the decision is been taken from the central location. The
major business company receives is from the USA & Europe
market.
Background

Indian IT service Industry was born in 1967 in Mumbai. At that time companies in
mature markets like USA & Europe were finding young talents to outsource their work
at an economic rate.

In 1981, Mr Kumar started his own company Nify Inc in Mumbai. The motto of the
company from the start is to take a customer-centric approach. The company always
maintained the position of being ahead in the technology curve to provide the best
customer service. Mr Kumar hard work paid off and Nify currently has more than 7500
employees with a revenue close to Rs. 1000 crore.

Nify Inc operates on a Global level and most of its business comes from North America
followed by Continental Europe and UK market. In emerging markets, the business
contribution comes from Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

Company Services

The company consists of four divisions within it i.e., Data Science, Software
Development, Support Function & Process Audit.

Data Science: The company provides Data Science as a Service which involves building
sophisticated tools & platform that helps clients to get insights into their business and
customer requirement. The company also provides data science consulting services.

Software Development: The company provides end-to-end software development


services to the client from planning, designing, and developing to implementing the
software which can help clients to solve their particular business problems.

Support Function: The company provides support services which help the clients'
organization to implement the solutions provided by Data Science & Software
development departments effectively in the expected time frame and cost.

Process Audit: The company provides IT audit services in which it examines and
evaluates information technology infrastructure, data security, data management
policies and procedures, system failures and other operational processes against
recognised standards or established policies.
Employee Profile

In each of the four functions, there are three types of an employee based on Hierarchy
levels i.e., Top Management, Senior Management & Junior Management.

The Top Management employees have a minimum experience level of 15 years and
have worked in different functions in the IT domain. Senior Management has a
minimum experience of 5 years while Junior Management is the fresh graduates or
postgraduates.

Talent Management

As a Human Resource Manager you have to design and implement various policies like
Division Policy, Diversity Inclusion Policy, Future Leadership Program Policy, Townhall
programmes & Training programmes for all employees to keep them aware, motivated
& committed so their performance level remains at par.

Talent Recruitment

The company appreciates the skill-based employees whose pool is limited in the
market. The recruitment space is competitive and hence requires focused attention on
hiring and policy-making related to recruitment space.

Organisational Tools

Nify is an innovator in its space but recruitment is one area where it has lacked
automation. The company wants to change that by deploying different tools which can
increase efficiency. The tools the company currently looking at are:

Your Responsibility

The stakeholder is not satisfied with the performance of the Human Resource
Manager in the previous year. You and your team are recruited as a new manager who
will take various decisions on recruitment, talent management and organization
effectiveness within the provided budget. The end goal is to increase stakeholder
satisfaction at the end of the 5th Year. (1 Round = 1 Financial Year)
