Initial Message
• When flying under VFR, an aircraft may change frequency to establish
communications with an aeronautical station to obtain:
• some form of service (FIS, RIS) from an ATSU or
• clearance to penetrate a MATZ or
• clearance to enter controlled airspace under special VFR
• The initial call should include the call sign and a request for the type
of service required.
