JOB INTERVIEW: PRODUCER

Movie producers are responsible for tasks like talent

acquisition, securing rights to the script, enlisting the film
crew, location scouting, equipment budget and they
determine the scale and budget of the films creation, sourcing
finance from investors and studios. Essentially they are the
backbone of a films creation, they may not be apart of the
main film crew like directors, actors and lighting and sound
but they make sure the film crew has the resources and
finance needed to help bring the directors creative vision to
life.
WHY I HAVE PICKED THIS JOB ROLE
I want to be the producer because I want to work closely with the director to
achieve their creative vision by completing and understanding the pre-
production documents as soon as possible after the group is assembled so I
can get good locations, actors and equipment. Lots of people want to be the
director but as I've said on the last slide the producer is the backbone of the
movie and is just as important as any other role. After doing research i think a
film crew wouldn’t work together as well without the producer as with the
producer the group would work better if the producer works hard to get pre-
production, casting, location scouting out of the way making filming go
smoother. Producers are responsible for getting the film out there as they
secure a script, find a film crew, network with actors and others in the
industry, and sort out the marketing.

has been the president of
Lucasfilm. She has worked
extensively alongside Steven
Spielberg since E.T. Some of the
films she has produced is
Jurassic park, the Back to the
future trilogy and some of the
Star Wars films.
Steven Spielberg
One of the most celebrated
directors of all time Steven
Spielberg is also a big producer
and screenwriter in the movie
industry responsible for
producing massive hits like
Schindler's list, the Indiana Jones
films, The colour purple and
Saving Private Ryan.
Jerry Bruckheimer
Probably one of the movie
industry's biggest producers,
jerry Bruckheimer has produced
some of hollywoods most famous
films including Top gun, Pirates of
the Caribbean, Black hawk down
and Bad boys.
 WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN
FIVE YEARS TIME
I don't really know specifically what I want to do in the future but I
want to do something creative in the media industry. I want to be
doing something I enjoy doing and continue to gain skills and
knowledge. At the moment I just want to work hard at what I am doing
right now and keep trying new things.

Considering that producers are entrepreneurial
and sort out the business side of films, I did BTEC
level 2 business in high school. I also directed a
documentary and did lighting for a music video I
have experience on set and know what it's like to
work closely with director.

WEAKNESS
organisation is defiantly a problem I have, since I have joined
collage I have fully prioritized my collage work which has
improved my organisation skills doing things like starting editing
as soon as I can and setting filming days. I have tried in the past
to learn organisation skills by making to do lists but the habit
never really took off. But it is really easy again and now that I'm in
collage i think it would be a really useful skill to develop but just
keeping a list on paper or on an online document.
