Industries

In many industries, such as oil refineries, steel mills, etc., computers are used to monitor
and control processes. In the manufacturing industry, computers are used to ensure that
parts (car, aircraft parts, etc.) are constructed to exact specifications. Industrial robots are
good at performing repetitive tasks and those that require precision movements, moving
heavy loads, and working in hazardous areas. Since robots are precise and do not get tired,
they can produce high-quality goods at lower costs.

Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) refers to the use of computers to control machines

in the manufacturing process. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is also used in
manufacturing. CAD refers to combining the use of computers and graphics to aid in
designing.

Expert Systems are being used in oil exploration, chemical analysis, etc. Expert systems
can reason - to a certain degree, draw inferences, and make judgements.
