How do you configure a connection with the multiple port 502 for the Modbus/TCP function
block MB_REDSV?
Configuring a connection with the multiple port 502 for the Modbus/TCP function block MB_REDSV

Description
The MB_REDSV block is a component of SIMATIC Modbus/TCP CP Red. This makes communication possible between
an S7 CPU and a third-party device which supports Modbus/TCP. Modbus/TCP communication runs by default over the
server port 502. In the past, the CPs released for use in an S7-400 H station permitted only 1 connection at port 502.
The S7-400 CPs listed in the table below are released for operation in an S7-400 H station and are able to multiplex
TCP connections. They therefore permit multiple connections at the local Port 502.

CP Article number Firmware version

CP443-1 6GK7443-1EX30-0XE0 V3.0 and higher (not V3.2.9)

CP443-1 Advanced 6GK7443-1GX30-0XE0 V3.0 and higher (not V3.2.9)

If you want to set up bilateral redundancy and the S7-400 H station is to function as Modbus server, the Modbus client
can set up 2 connections to Port 502 of CP0 and 2 connections to Port 502 of CP1.

Fig. 01
Function of the multiple Port 502
In NetPro you create a passive connection for Port 502. The CP's firmware processes incoming TCP messages
sequentially. From the point of view of the user program, a multiplexed connection is represented as a single
connection. The displays in NetPro and in the special diagnostics are cumulated. This means that when at least 1
connection is established, you get the status "Connection is set up". You cannot check how many Modbus clients have
connected themselves to that port.
Configuration
If in the case of bilateral redundancy the S7-400 H station is configured as Modbus server and the multiple Port 502 is
used, you must create an unspecified connection with passive connection setup for CP0 and CP1 on Port 502. At the
id_0_a and id_1_a inputs of the MB_REDSV function block you specify the connection IDs from NetPro.
Note
If in the case of bilateral redundancy the S7-400 H station as Modbus server is to accept only 1 connection per port,
then you must configure two unspecified passive connections per CPU with different port numbers in NetPro. You must
then make corresponding entries at the inputs id_0_a, id_1_a, id_0_b and id_1_b of the MB_REDSV function block.

Fig. 02
Unilateral redundancy via CP 343-1
Unilateral redundancy is supported by the following CP 343-1s:
CP 343-1 Lean (article number: 6GK7343-1CX10-0XE0) V2.1 and higher
CP 343-1 Standard (article number: 6GK7343-1EX30-0XE0) V2.0.16 and higher
Likewise, only one unspecified connection is needed for Port 502. Then only the id_0_a input of the function block
MB_REDSV is supplied.
