The following Safety and Security guidelines shall be enforced in all four (4) Campuses
of Sorsogon State University:

1. No lD No ENTRY policy will be strictly implemented. ldentification cards must be


worn al alltimes by employees and students within the campus.
2. Walk-in visitors and those with vehicles shall be required to stop at the entrance
gate. They shall present any valid lD card in exchange for a visilot's pass which
they will wear while within the premises of the campus. The same will be
retumed on their way out. lD intormation shall be recorded in the security
logbook.
3. Vvhen vehicles enter or leave the University premises, the on-duty security
personnel will conducl routine and non-intrusive inspeclions by visually
examining the vehicle and its occupanus. The search shall be limited only to a
visual search, such as requesling the car window to be opened, looking inside
the vehicle, or flashing light into the passenger compartment.
Only visual inspections will be conducled on bags and other items canied by
employees, students, and visitors.
The immediately preceding provisions are without prejudice to a more eltensive
search that the Security Guard (SG) may conducl if lhe person/s to be searched
consents in case ofwaiver.
4. All students and employee-motorists entering the campus shall be issued a
vehicle pass sticker afrer complying with all the requirements from the Safety and
Security Services Office.
5. Hauling-in, delivery or transporling of supplies and materials inside the campus
by cunent projecl contraclors or suppliers necessitates random check by SG
detailed at SorSU gate. Documents attestng to the items to be transporled inside
the campus must be presented by the delivery driver/porter to the SG for record
purposes.
6. Delivery and courier services transporting food, water, medicine, hardware and
school supplies and other essential goods shall be allowed inside the campus
premises following stricl adherence to safety and security protocols and
guidelines.
7. Speed limlt of any motorized vehicle inside the campus premises is at a
maximum of 15 kilomelres-perhour (kph).
L Employees, students and visitors should park their vehicles in designated parking
areas to ensure safety of persons and property.
9. Open pipe motorcycles are prohibiled entry inside the campus.
10. The existing rule in issuance of Gate Pass (GP) shall be followed. Any employee
who intends to bring SorSU property outside the school premises like supplies,
equipment, materials, etc. shall secure a Gate Pass officially issued by the
Campus Direslor/and or Supply Officer.
11. Students are mandated to abide by the established policy of wearing the
prescribed uniform while inside the campus, except during\dash day" and "non-
uniform days'. ln addition, students are not allowed to wear inappropriate attire
during wash days or non- uniform days, such as; shorl pants, skirts thal are 5

inches above the knee, rubber slippers, haltered skirts and blouses, backless
tops, tubes, and other similar attire.
12. Wearing of accessories such as earrings by male employees and sludents is
considered inappropriate and prohibited within university premises.
13. Carrying of firearms, weapons and explosives anside the campus and other
facilities or venues is striclly prohibited. The possession, storage, or use of
firearms, ammunitions, deadly weapons or dangerous articles shall be dealt with
in accordance with law. lf required for laboralory work and other co-cunicular
aclivities, students may be allowed to bring sharp or pointed inslruments such as
knives, scalpels, screwdriver, cutting tools, etc. upon presentalion of
permiuauthorization issued by faculty-in-charge. Actual use of these
tools/instrumenls must be done under the strict supervision and guidance of lhe
instruclor/s in charge.
14. Students and/or their organizalions planning to conduct in-campus aclivities
during weekdays, weekends, or afler school/office hours must first secure permit
from the Office of the Campus Director. lf the proposed aclivity is approved, a
copy of the permit or approved letter request must be lorwarded lo the Safety
and Security Services Unit two (2) lo three (3) days prior to the activity.
15. Students who are under the influence oI alcoholic beverages shall not be allowed
entry into the campus. Moreover, bringing in, drinking or consumption of such
beverages is stric{ly prohibited. This prohibition likewise applies to school
ac{ivities conduc,ted oulside the campus.
'16. All forms of tobacco consumption such as bul not limited to cigarette smoking or
vaping are prohibiled. This prohibilion also extends to official off-campus school
activities.
'17. The University mainlains and adopts a drug-free campus. Students are striclly
prohibited to possess, use, sell or distribute illegal drugs, banned subslances or
chemicals as clearly defined and identified under existing anti-drug abuse laws
and related policies.
18. Students and employees are enloined to participate, initiate or conducl
emergency, safety and security, climate change initiatives (i.e. seminars or
webinars, activities or programs) designed as risk reduclion and disaster
resiliency measures.
'19. Students and employees are advised to be properly guided by university
issuances and executive orders, prescribing rules on lhe cancellation or
suspension of classes and work due to typhoons, flooding and other weather
disturbances and c€lamities.
20. The University does not encourage leaving or depositing valuable items in the
guardhouse area. Otherwise, depositing of personal belongings and other items
shall be at owners' risk.
21. lncidents of thefl, vandalism, robbery, arson and/or other unlawful acls shall be
immediately reported to the SG on duty and relayed to the Coordinator/Head of
Safety and Security and Campus Director. However, no SorSU personnel,
outsourcing maintenance crew and any other unauthorized individual shall be
allowed to step-into or attempt to clean the incident area following occurrence of
such incident. At any rate, the incident scene shall be cordoned-off, pending the
anival ol authorized investigating personnel.
22. Ambulant vendors are prohibited from selling their products, merchandise or
other ilems inside the c€mpus premises except those who were granted prior
approvalfrom the Campus Oireclor (CD).

23. Any person who finds lost items inside the campus premises is advised to
sunender them to the SG on duty. The SG shall documenl and store the items,
and record the finde/s name with her/his consent.
24. Students and Employees must be cognizant of the emergencl holline directory
numbers, posted in the guardhouse area and in conspicuous areas within the
campus.
25. Campus Coordinators of the Safety and Security SeMces Unit and
Sc/watchman shall acl as primary implementers and lrontline enforcers of
SorSU Safety and Security Services policies/protocols.
26. Violations and disregard of any or all of the above cited Safety and Security
Services Policies shall be dealt with accordingly.
The policies related to students mention above are in accordance with the revised
SorSU Student Handbook as approved lhrough BOR No. 12-2024 (A Resolution
Approving the Revised Sorsogon Slate University Student Handbook).
