Date: The date of which the experiment was carried out MUST be written.

Title: The title of the experiment is always provided.

Aim The aim and or objective(s) is what the experiment intends to achieve. This is also provided. If not, student is
expected to write this in the space provided.

Apparatus and Reagents: These include all the apparatus and the reagents used during the experiment.
It must be written in the space provided.

Theory/Background and Pre-Lab: The theory/background is a brief theoretical knowledge on the

experiment. This is always given in the experimental manual, while the pre-lab is some questions the
students need to answer before coming for the experiment. The students therefore need to study the
experiment before coming to the laboratory.

Procedure: This has been provided in the manual. The students are to study it and follow it step by step
in carrying out the experiment.

Result/observation: When an experiment generates data, it is set out on a table of result, but when
there are no data, this section is called observations. You MUST always rule your table and put the
appropriate parameters and their units. Observations are written in simple statements with each
observation written in separate lines for clarity.

Equation: When required, a balanced chemical equation for all the reactions taking place must be
written.

Calculations: Where they are calculations, it must be written clearly with units of values stated correctly.

Graphs: All aspects of graphs are to be drawn/written with pencil. (title, scale, axes, points and slope).

Precaution: There are two types of precautions: safety precaution and precaution that ensure accurate
result. Safety precautions should be left for GLT report writing only. At least, 2 precautions pertaining to
the experiment at hand is required.

Conclusion: Conclusion is drawn from result/observation, calculations, graph and discussion of result
section.
